No a 2010. I get 16 mixed city and hwy back and forth to work and 17 or a hair over on strictly hwy miles by hand calc.
Im driving a 2010 3500 srw 4x4 with a manual. Its only got 17k on it right now, got 14 new and got beter with every tank until 15K now it has plained out, I was hoping for better, but its ok now and if I ditch the dpf it will get alot better. I also have started car pooling to work and pretty much only use the truck for ranch work and pulling our travel trailer and tractor around, but pretty soon the car pooling is goin to be a no go so the dpf delet is coming!

Well I have a 05 so it cost me about $50 ($12 per gallon & $15 for a filter) to diy but about $70 at a oil change place. Now the new diesels, at least Ford anyways, have 2 filters How often do you have to change the fuel filters? Or were you talking about oil filters. I read somewhere that you have to change fuel filters pretty frequently on diesels.

Spoke with the dealer today- Monte Hall - great name for a car dealer, LOL - he gave me an update on the delivery - should be the week of Feb 28th. Truck is being built in the Indiana plant. I used to maintain a fleet of 1 & 1-1/2 ton trucks for a drilling company. We had several older 3500 Chevys w/454's, and then bought 3- 2004 Ford F-550's w/ 6.0's. Then the owners both bought 2007 2500 & 3500 Chevy Duramaxes. Guess which rigs gave me the least trouble? Yup, the older Chevys. The new Fords were constantly in the shop -they ran & pulled great -when they'd run. The Duramaxes were better, but geez, try getting to the fuel filters, LOL, and they needed to be changed at least every 15,000 mi (if I remember) I know the diesels pull better, but for my personal truck -just don't want to mess with them.

I know the diesels pull better, but for my personal truck -just don't want to mess with them. Yeah i heard the same thing talking to a co-worker the other day. He owns a 5th wheel travel trailer that he said weighs around 7k pounds. He had a 1/2 ton Chevy with the 5.3L V8 that he pulled the 5th wheel with. He had to add a leaf spring to the 1/2 ton so that it wouldnt ride too low. He then bought a new 05 Duramax 2500 that he pulls it with now. He told me he wont do that again. He said that there isnt much difference at all between pulling the same trailer with the 5.3L and the duramax diesel. He said the rpms had to go alittle higher in the 5.3L when traveling in Colorado up the inclines but it did it fine. He said the up front cost and the maintence cost of the diesel is what will put him in a 3/4 ton gas truck as his next vehcile.

Maybe somebody should explain to your friend he can add a LOT of torque to that diesel for a couple hundred dollars. I paid $150 for my tuner, used. There is no comparison when towing, trust me.

I'm sorry, I love my 1/2 ton chevy too, and it did alot of things, some I probably shouldnt have done with it, but there is a NIGHT and DAY difference between pulling with a gas and a diesel! Dont see any gass semi's wonder why? Sometimes you have to stick your foot in it to get that turbo workin faster, but that d-max will eat that 5.3 for a mid morning snack and poo it out the tail pipe. Not saying everybody should have or needs a diesel, but saying that a half ton gas v-8 pulls a 7k 5th wheel just as well as a 3/4 ton diesel is stupid! Dont believe everything a buddy tells you and from now on take what that one has to say with an extra grain of salt!

Im just saying what he said and for his own personal experience the diesel didnt have that much more benifit. I know the diesel has more grunt when towing. I have known this guy for 15 years and he has had lots of experience towing. He basically said the extra power you gain from towing with a diesel is there but it doesnt live up to all the hype that people place on it. He said if you tow over 10K your really going to see a difference but for what he does, it isnt worth the extra cost. He was lured in on all the hype and said he made a mistake. He said the biggest difference that he saw from going grom the 1/2 ton to the 3/4 ton diesel, was the added stability of the heavier 3/4 ton truck when flying down the freeway and hitting a gust of wind from an on coming truck.
Semi's pull 85,000 lbs, whole different ball park. Im talking about pulling loads within the towing capacity of a 1/2 ton truck with a 3/4 ton diesel. And in that case there isnt much to justify the use of a diesel over a gas enigne.

His big gripe wasnt the power, it was more the expense added for the extra power by going diesel for a load capable for a 1/2 ton truck.

Well, T minus a couple days -and counting. The new truck should be in by Monday. Have a buyer for my old Sierra, will make that deal today. Hard to contain the excitement (even @ my age) am real anxious to see how this new truck runs, rides, & tows. LMAO, just in time for gas prices to go up.

GOT IT !!!- Wow, beautiful truck (to me) Not fancy on the outside - is white w/ black interior (just like my 2002) but holy mackeral - it's got 403 horsepower, LOL. This truck feels bigger & heavier than my previous 2002, rides very nicely, but accelerates, well, like 403 HP - geez. Have to laugh -the dealer said to me "I've never sold a 6.2L w/ 2 wheel drive before", and he was quite disappointed that he didn't get the chance to try it out - I was there 30 mins. after it rolled off the hauler. Sorry, but the towing report will have to wait until I get 500 miles on it -so says the manual. I think the biggest difference is going to be that Allison 6 speed, not to mention that additional HP. And diesel guys - don't bring your stock diesels to this drag race (not that it's important), but I think you'd be embarrased by the results against this particular truck. It scared me a little when I drove it off the lot -the fuel management read out said - avg. mileage = 6.1 mpg - , geez LOL, until I figured out that it had only burned 2.5 gallons of gas through it. After burning 7 gals so far driving around Tyler, it's up to 12 mpg and still rising -have to wait & see where it ends up. As soon as I get the required 500 miles on it - I'll hook up the boat & maybe drive to Rayburn - be back with that report soon.

What kind of mileage did you get while towing?

I know I know the 6.2 puts out 403 hp and and a good bit of torque... but you know the new diesles have nearly 400 hp and almost 800 lbs of torque? I wouldnt be drag racin with mine but i bet it will still smoke you.
