Went bank fishing with my dad today at lake waco . Well 10 minutes after getting there we see this catfish swimming up on top of the water for some reason and we can see some kind of groth on him . Well that was no groth but a damn cottonmouth attached to the side of his head and the snake was taking him to the shore . This catfish was maybe 8-10 inchs but this snake didnt care and was trying to get the fish head into his mouth . 30 minutes later he finally had the head in his mouth all the way up to the spines but somehow the fish got out and swam away leaving a pissed off snake Fishing was slow but we didnt manage 2 channels 3lbs and a 6-7 lber and 2 tiny bass . Everything was caught on large minnows about 2 - 3 inches long fishing 4 feet down under a bobber . Now i gotta go sharpen the fillet knife and get to work

I witnessed the same thing on Chocolate Bayou near Alvin, Texas. The snake had a hardhead in it's mouth. My dad and I watched as the fish was swallowed up. The hardhead, after being swallowed, raised it's dorsal fin and punctured the snake. Well, to make a longer story short, Both the snake and the fish died right there on the bank. Mother nature is funny sometimes.
The hardest thing about fishing is figuring out what the fish want to eat.

Thats pretty cool, ive seen them catch perch before, but never anything that big, it is amazing what a snake can swallow.

Was bank fishing a private pond a couple of weeks back and had a 4ft cottonmouth latch on to the tail of a lmb I was reeling in. Brought the fish and snake to the edge of the water and pegged the snake on the head with a rock. It let go of the fish and took off. The bass seemed ok and swam off too. One of the wildest things I've ever seen though.

When I grew up across the street from and fished on Lake Waxahachie my dad made me take a cheapo .22 with ratshot because the snakes got pretty bad in the spring. Only had to use it once when I caught a 2 1/2 footer on a pop-r. I was glad I had it though.

Well, let's just leave the watersnakes alone.

Hey barndoor, thought about that, but I had one of my favorite lures that my daughter gave me tied on. Couldn't lose that.

If we could only train the snakes to eat CARP! Heaven.
