From the original post it appears they turned on their lights when they had to, and did so enough in advance to be avoided. I guess I'm missing the issue here... I see cops sitting in places with their lights off watching areas, hiding behind objects shooting radar, even posing as construction workers. The wardens were just doing there job, IMHO. ABSOLUTELY!!!

maybe just go thank him for being out there to begin with next time.... its fixin to be bout time for those crazy jet skiers and the drunks to be out and about and i doubt anybody would be worried about their lights being on when they are going to stop one.... So true...some people feel "Damned if they and damned if they don't" Complain all the way till their coffin gets nailed.

I have noticed most law enforcement types have very little regard for the traffic laws, or any other laws for that matter.
The sheriff departments in these small towns are notoriously crooked.
We had a Texas trooper out here for years who nearly ran over me several times barrelling out of the median.
I have had several bad things happen to me over the years and I have yet to get any help from the law enforcement types. About the best you can hope for is they will file a report.
Game Wardens are bad about coming up to your boat at full speed and swamping you with a wake. We had one out here who thought he was John Wayne.
All in all I cannot say I am surprised you had a bad experience. What would make you happy, having no law enforcement? There are countries for that lifestyle.

If you are not breaking the law, why worry about someone who is trying to get lawbreakers. +1

I would have made a citizens arrest. Sorry sucker on Roberts gave me a ticket for no lights after dark about 7 years ago. I had beached before dark well within the legal hours and I put my boat on the trailer after talking with a few friends. He gave me a ticket for not having my lights on for the 25 yards from where I beached to the trailer. Watching me the whole time. Needless to say I was pizzed. Thought he would give me a warning, so I was nice and calm before I saw he was gonna give me a ticket and then I gave him an earfull. Went to court and was told I would lose because I was legally wrong, but the bailiff said to the judge and the lawyer that it was bullshiz and they only made me pay court fees. All I can say is that I hope Karma catches up with him. Hard to believe that a judge would let his bailiff speak to him like that in court. Bull Shannon

I wouldn't complain about there lights as much as I would about them not doing anything about illegals running around in unregistered boats and no life vest in the boat..Had one last yr bust my chops on RH for having my boat still registered in ct after 30 days and didn't do a dam thing to the 5 illelgal running in a 14 fter that had no tag #'s or reg sticker on it or one life vest in it.

No matter, the warden was in the wrong. Being an officer gives no right to be above the law. They are not trying to be above the law. Look how many times have you gone down the road and saw a DPS or a Police car with it's lights off on side of the road in the dark running radar? I guess that's BS to since you can not drive down the road in the dark to right? Do you just think they will sit there with there lights on in the middle of the road so everyone knows who they are NO same thing as the Warden they are trying to catch people so they are in the dark he turned them on as you where getting close to let you know he was there and watching one thing is for sure there are a bunch of and when they get caught they think it's not fair b/c they where in the dark and I could not see them and it's BS if youe are not doing anything wrong don't worry about it and thank them for the job they are doing instead of Bitching all the time.

So what if you know they are there. They need lights on for their safety and yours. Who is to say they would see you in time to turn them on to warn you they are there? Besides, if people do know that they are there, wouldn't that deter a crime from being committed? I believe that's the general idea for putting cops on the street.

Cops are there to observe criminal behavior and apprehend those responsible. Some of you "lawyers" might want to peruse Ch. 546 of the Texas Transportation Code sometime.

I think this thread has gotten out of hand, and we should all cool it. I apologize to any honest hard working law enforcement personnel I have offended.

I don't mean for this to sound arrogant, law enforcement is above the law to a certain extent. As a former police officer, I can tell u that the texas penal code and traffic laws allow for officers to violate laws in the course of their duties. It is sometimes a necessity. Get over it. Im glad they're out there!

I am wondering if the wardens light was up by a tree and was blocked at the angle you started off looking at him. Then as you passed the light cleared the tree and was visible so it looked like he turned on his anchor lights.
