All other things- style, scratch resistance, fit, etc. are not that important to me. Please advise.

Well Wiley-X has 8 layers of polarization. Basically just different coatings on the lenses to help with scratch resistance, UV protection, shatter proofing, water repellent and what not. I can't speak for other brands because I have not tried them, but in my experience the difference between a $20 and a $200 pair of sunglasses is quite extensive. Surely the clarity would be better as well as the UV protection and durability.

Got my first pair of Costa 580's about 4 mos ago after lasik, and they are awesome! However my brother in-law let me try his Keanon C-12's the other day and i was blown away. Even on cloudy days those things are unreal. Not as comfortable as my Costas though.

Try www.steepandcheep.com I have jicked up two pair of Costas with 580 glass lenses for less than a hundred dollars a pair. It is an ongoing sale and you have to be looking when they come around.

no complaints about my Oakley Flak Jackets($211.00) at Sun glass Hut. I like the warranty you get with higher end glasses for one. but get whats in your budget. I took me several years before I splurged on my Oakleys. Think it will be hard to go back to cheaper shades though.

Do the more expensive glasses protect your eyes from long-term damage anymore than 20 dollar Berkley Polarized that are 100% UVA and polarized?

I think 100% protection is just that. Once you see through the lenses of a more expensive pair you kinda understand why people will spend the extra cash on them. I've had Costas and Oakley. I prefer the Oakleys because they just fit me better. The Oakleys offer a lens that inhibits water from drying on them thus creating water spots. As with most Oakly glasses they are shatter proof and impact resistant. My Costas were nice but ended up hurting my head after a long day of wear. Just my 02.

I have a pair of Revo redpoints with amber lenses that I wear on cloudy days that help to brighten things up a little , and a pair of Oakley fives with the dark polarized lenses for the brighter days , the only reason I spend the money on high end glasses is because I tend to take care of them better and to me they are more comfortable...

I love my Oakley Half Jackets. I also have some Oakley Gas Cans but they become uncomfortable after a few hours. The Gas Cans are my running glasses, they shield the eyes better.
