You forgot Big Creek. From the boat ramp around to the rock point to the right of the store is good for bank fishing there. One of the best places is just outside the water-volleyball poles of the new sand beach.thumb

I may get hectic soon out there with Spring Break coming up Matt. Not as bad as Pine Island, but once word gets out+ Spring Break=Regatta. It has happened before.

Raise the Pirate flag on the black Kenner...lol.

Probably see ya out there Matt.

Took a neighbor, and Tommie, out this past Monday to the Welsh area. Only fished about 4 hrs. Nearly half that time was spent traveling from Big Creek to Welsh. Waves were about 3 ft. with a 18-22mph wind.

Tommie, I counted the fish from that day. (26) Nothing huge about that number but under the conditions not bad. Thank goodness we got that bilge pump working again.

Anyone fishing the waters just West by SW of the WELSH Shoal markers be careful. The markers need to be reset there soon.
The water gets to a depth of 1.4 ft. and can be tough/hazardous on a windy day. I was reeling in a nice Hybrid there on Monday and felt my motor skeg hit the shoal. No damage thank goodness. If you wade in there then step lightly. There are some guts, dropp offs from 2-6-9ft. splat

Most of the markers throughout the lake move during the yr., but they are indicators or warnings to be careful in those areas. They are not exact locators.

The WB will be on the humps, sandbars to spawn. The Hybrids will be up on the flats near the humps to ambush bait. The shad and hybrids will move deeper in the lake as it gets hotter. The fish will also push up the bait out on open water.

Look for bird activity this yr. Have your binocs ready , and don't just charge into a school with your big motor. Try and set up upwind of them and drift back. Use your anchor, trolling motor, or wind sock to not spook the fish. We haven't had a decent bird activity on the lake in I'd say three yrs. Make the most of it.

I check this out about once a week. Who makes these reports? Do they toss darts at answers on a board? I'd say about 80% wrong most of the time. Maybe more....

Thanks for the report! I didn't get to get out these last few days like I expected, but I'm going to try on my next days off.

I think the wind may be too much for my Yak mid day, so I was thinking about going early and fishing till noonish.
