You can choose it many ways at first go to the market and keep some information which is best fishing kayak in the market then ask experts what kind of kayaks they use for fishing. See peoples reviews about kayak which is best. Then you can choose what's kind of kayak do you need for fishing. Because experts are always used to fishing kayak, fishing it's there profession. Otherwise, you can search it on google I hope you can choose your best fishing kayak.
Thank You

Here are few points to consider before making an purchase -
1. Type of kayak - there are many different types of kayak available in the market like sit-on-top. inflatable kayak etc. 2. Type of water - what kind of water boy are you gonna use that kayak for? 3. Material - thoroughly research the kind of material used for making that kayak. Consider finding the properties of that material using google. 4. Warranty - Is your kayak back by any manufacturer warranty. 5. Accessory - what accessories are included with the kayak? 6. Storage - Does your kayak have enough space?

took awhile, but I read the whole thread. I've got into kayak fishing only in the past couple months and I've already made mistakes on what I've bought.
I thought I wanted a sit-in to stay dry, but after learning of scupper plugs I went for a sit-on-top. Bought a new Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 for several reasons...it was clearanced, it was longer for speed and tracking, it wasn't super heavy, it looked good, it was only 28" wide....which I figured added to its speed and ease of paddling.
Took it out for the first time, and it did indeed paddle nice. I stayed dry in it. I thought great....I made the right choice.
Then I tried to turn backwards to get something out of the rear cargo area and felt like it was about to flip. Went to lean forward to get something from the front end, and it felt squrrely again. So I felt like I was basically locked in place. Not good.
It's for sale, and I'm going with something wider. The speed will suffer, but I need more stability.
Always a trade-off with kayaks. I'm sure by next Fall I'll be buying something else due to lessons learned.

take that prowler onto the lake, shallow, no rods or equipment... then turn and sit sideways on it. get used to the feel. My tarpon is not much wider. I know a Guy that takes his prowler out in the Gulf..

It felt stable until trying to reach forward and back.
Are you saying I should be able to and it won't spit me off?

Are you saying I should be able to and it won't spit me off? Its all about learning the do and don'ts of kayak fishing in the particular kayak you are in. Years ago 28 inch beamed kayaks were pretty much standard for folks starting out or experienced in the saltwater. Knowing which technique to use to get stuff from behind you and the conditions you are in are only learned from experience. Twisting and turning is not a technique I recommend using under any conditions. If I can't reach behind me and get something, I'll turn side saddle where I can reach sideways to get it either out of the stern or nearer bow of kayak. I've been following Jim for over 15 years and here are a few tips for those starting out that want to learn from one of the best. https://gameon2.wordpress.com/2010/02/01...d-in-the-sport/

The best fishing kayak will be the kayak you will use on regular basis. Consider your needs first, where you will be fishing, what type of gear you are going to use, how tall are you (smaller kayaks may not be comfortable for you), will you be going along, etc. There are plenty of great kayaks under $1k on the market today. best fishing kayak

How about the Jackson Kilroy???? Feedback????? Thanks Any of the major kayak manufacturers are going to make good kayaks. When you ask about a specific model you are asking people to read your mind. The only way to get the kayak that is right for you is to demo it. Ive seen many people that absolutely love a certain kayak model. And then others that hate the same model. Only you can sit in a kayak and decide if it is the correct kayak for you.
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19
