Enjoy this spot while you can. I spoke yesterday to the contractor that is down draining the lake and got the details. They are going to completely drain the pond. I was told that over the past several years the pollution and runoff from the main creek that runs into the lake has caused the lake to become very polluted 'under the surface'. He said the lake had silted up so much that it had become a shallow bayou instead of the once deep lake it was. He said that they will continue to drain until they could get their equipment in there to clean things up. The only thing keeping them from getting started has been the unusual August rains we have had. I asked him about the fish - he told me that the subject has never come up in any of the conversations he has had... So enjoy it while you can, it will probably be quite some time before it will be back to 'normal'.
