Hey fishman5,

I have a question for ya, If you lost him how do you know he was 7+, does your rod weigh them as you reel them in?

Hey wedge,

I know because she got off at the bank when I went to lip her. It's ok by me if no one believes me. I'm the one who feels the pain every time I think about how I was bending over to lip her.

That's why you bend with your knees, fishman5! I'm only kidding. That's happened to me twice. You'd think that a mouth the size of a 5 gallon bucket would be easy to grab a hold of. I truly feel your pain.

I know the feeling just trying to relay some humor. I watched one about the same snap my 14 lb test at Ray Roberts like it was nothing. The humor helps ease the pain.

No appology needed, no herm done, just would like to rewind a few instances. That's what helps keep us interested in what we love. (Thats why it's called Hunting/Fishing and not killing).

Hey fishman5,

Thanks for the info and ideas. I'll be up there all day on Saturday trying to catch "anything that swims". I'm fishing near that "fish shelter". I'll post my results here in this thread on Sunday.

dmunsie,
I might see ya Saturday, I have family in town this weekend. I don't know if I can sneak away. If I dont good luck. Remember this lake can be very tough, but it can produce some suprising fish as well.

Well, another angler and myself fished an all day session at White Rock Lake on Saturday. First off, the scenic settings are wonderful. Lot's of scenery, gorgeous surroundings. PLENTY of bank access!!!!! A bathroom near by, no problems there.

The locals all seemed nice, everyone I talked too said the only potential problem from the locals may be at night time. But I didn't stay past 8:00pm.

We were targeting Carp, Buffalo with sweet baits, targeting everything else with freshly caught shad.

No bites at all until late afternoon. Then all of a sudden the bite started. We ended up catching several carp up to 10lbs, I lost a VERY Big fish, on the hook for about 5 minutes till the hook gently came out. $#@! Had several bites on the shad, but nothing landed. Did lose something big tugging on some shad, but never saw it. I will say this, our methods were the only ones catching anything while I was there. Several locals came by to check out our setup. (European Rod-Rod with Electronic Bite Indicators, etc.)

Panfish (sunfish, blue gills, small crappies) were abundant from the shore and the fish shelter. So a shore lunch of Pan Fish would be no problem there for those interested.

For the record, the carp there are VERY pretty fish! Very light colored with bright orange tails. They look like huge GoldFish!

We didn't do any casting for bass or sandies, never did see any sandies schooling close by either.

We DID fish under the I30/Garland bridge for a short period. The water seemed to shallow, the sun too hot, etc. Nothing happened.

I'm out of town till Friday, I may hit this lake again next Sunday if anyone is interested in hooking up.

Fishe Sunday from 7-9 am ,caught 3 sandies and about a dozen small yellow bass, sandies quite nice.Caught the sandies on 1/4 oz spoons and the yellow bass on small minnow plastics(like a sassy shad ).I fished at the the 1st parking area that is available from turning at the light at Garland Rd. ,straight across from the dam.I estimate I was about 300 yards from Garland Rd.The sandies were busting shad but were a little too far out today for me to relly get into them, but had fun nontheless.Good luck to anyone who was out there, let me knowl if you were catching them. Wow! All that flattery is gonna turn me red. Muchos gracias.

That's my site about White Rock, and yes, the server did go down, but it had nothing to do with you guys. I finally experienced the disaster that I've feared since I got in the web biz in 1998 and we were down for about 20 hours. Rather than bemoan the fact, I guess I should day that I'm lucky it took so long to have a major tumbling-down of the walls. We got back up, stronger than ever, the next day.

I've added another bass hotspot since then, so those interested might want to go check it out. Tight lines to all of you.
