Sponsors made him tone down his appearance and I think it messed up his mental focus on fishing at the highest level. This is just hearsay, because I asked the same question.

He didn't make the Classic, but is in the Elites this year.

Don't know for sure, but can say he is a super nice guy. Talked to him twice when the PAA was at Tawakoni. He was very outgoing and seemed genuinely intersted in talking to people.
