Thanks!

I fished out behind the library for a few hours this morning. Didn't get out of the house as early as I would have liked too, couldn't get much sleep last night so I just went back to bed after turning off the alarm pre-dawn. Oh well. Got to the ponds probably around 10:30 or so, and fished for a few hours, caught two carp, an 8 pound and a ten pound. Got to show off the ten pounder to a group of kids who'd obviously never seen a fish over a pound before, pretty fun. They didn't know what it was either, one kid thought catfish due to the barbels, so I explained it was a carp. I missed two other fish, both of which hit hard as I was bringing another fish in! So I wasn't able to get a proper hook set on them while they were running, busy dealing with a big fish at the time. Oh well, that's my favorite way to miss a fish! Also just as I was leaving had a fish make a huge run, but when I set the hook, it just went totally slack. My line had been cut! Maybe a gar or something, or just set against a sharp rock. Oh well, had a lot of fun anyway. I took some pics of the fish laying over my net, and wit ha tape measure, though you can't really read the numbers. The 8 was 25 inches long, the 10 was about 26 inches, but a lot thicker and fatter. Here's some links, hopefully they'll work.

Thanks Zack! I did the best I could considering I was all alone lol. Figured the net at least gave them a bit of scale. The reading swim huh? I'll keep that in mind! I may go back there again tomorrow, either in the morning by myself, or in the afternoon, possibly with my dad. I've been trying to get him out there, as it's been a while since he's caught carp, but he's pretty busy. Gonna try though! Hopefully he won't jinx the swim for us lol.

Have you ever tried or seen the pond off of Josey and Peters Colony? I mentioned it in another thread, looks like a LOT of carp in there.

That should be a picture of the apparently infamous Library Swim area. Took it yesterday between carp, that might help you find it D. Just hope this place doesn't get overrun and overfished by us carp anglers after Zack was good enough to share one of his secret spots with us!

Thanks Tim! And yeah, what street are you referring too? The only one I know in the area is Golfer's Green. I'm actually much closer to the Lewisville area then Farmers Branch. (I'm in Highland Village.) I've just been driving down to carp fish this spot lately since it's been so productive for me. Sorry you didn't get any bass, my gf and I have caught a few out of there, all on minnows. It's sort of a weird area to fish for bass because of the structure. But that's ok, it's a spot I'll mostly stick to carp anyway! But if I can find this other pond you mentioned I'd be happy to go there and try and get some carp from it too! Thanks!

Lone Star it's the pond/lake behind the golf course, you can see it on Beltway drive off of Marsh lane. There's some town house's/appartments called Enterprise, there's a nice pool that runs behind the townhomes which is fed by city water/spring/city water tower.
Yo Starless you live off of FM407? The pond I'm talking about is the one off of the Highland village exit you have to turn left at boat/jet-ski rental place. I have personally seen carp in there that would easily go to 15lbs.

Yeah. I live off of 407, down near the very far west end of highland village. I'm pretty sure I know the pond your talking about, it's the one I Mentioned in email. Glad to hear that there's big carp in there, I'll have to start frequenting it more often! Where do you usually fish it? I've only fished near the parking area, and further along that shoreline, to where the culvert runs under the road. And where have you seen the carp?

Lonestar, maybe some time you'll have to come up to my neck of the woods and see if you help me catch some local carp! Tim, you'd be more then welcome too, if you were interested!
