I haven't been able to figure out Arrowhead since I've lived in the Wichita Falls area the past year. Finally hit up Nocona Lake yesterday and out of the three of us we landed 9 fish. Not a bad day on the lake at all. I got 5 dinks, buddy of mine got a 7lb 3oz 'er and a 3lber. Other guy got a dink and a 2.5lber. All in all a great day on the lake. I will definitely be back. I grew up in Azle, went to Bar H ranch all the time to ride dirt bikes and never knew Nocona Lake was a productive bass lake. Go figure. Had such a great time catching dinks since Arrowhead has handed my a$$ to me for a year. Might have to make it my "home" lake.

Believe it or not arrowhead is a really good lake. But Nocona will always be one of my favorites. You should give amon Carter a chance if you haven't already. Great little lake

Thanks Jayhc2. I have heard nothing but good things about Arrowhead since I have been here but I have been continuously skunked. Caught a dink this summer and that was it in about 10 outings. I am coming off of a 3 year hiatus though due to being stationed in England and I know that I am rusty. Just need to get out there and hit it hard for a while I guess to get some kind of pattern.

A buddy and I have been wanting to hit up Amon Carter. Which part should we focus on. I read that it is in two parts, one that is stained and one that is clear. Can you access both parts without landing your boat and driving over to the other side?

Amon carter is two lake in one, there ia a large tinhorn going through the old lake dam that will give you access to either lake, the new lake is clear and the old lake is a little stained. this is a great lake i would suggest starting on the old lake first, easier to catch fish on. Arrowhead is an awsome lake, weve been tournament fishing it for 4 years now and it only gets better. and nocoana is not the lake it used to be, it used to put out several 10 plus lb bass a year now you might see one or two a season. but there are still a lot of 8 and 9 lb bass being caught. still a great tournament lake. good luck

Well I guess it is going to take us this year to figure out the patterns on Arrowhead. Everyone I talk to has said that it is a great bass lake. I have been in England the past 3 years and was stationed in NC before that, and Arrowhead definitely fishes differently then the lake I was used to fishing in NC. It was a powerplant lake and just solid hydrilla. Thanks guys for letting me know there are some bass in Arrowhead. haha.

Arrowhead can be hard to figure. Not always a consistent pattern. the water can fluctuate a lot in the summer. I used to have a lot of luck fishing the creek mouths.

There have been times at arrowhead when I'm on a solid pattern and then 4 days later can't even find a bite. I grew up fishing nocona, it's a decent lake. you either got to be lucky or know a good spot real good to catch something bigger than 8. All the tourneys have over pressured it, now is the time to catch a big one though. As for Amon Carter, I've done decent out there, somehow I always end up in a mess of crappie.
