You gotta let the fish tell ya what they want!!!!!!
Some days you even gotta use minners like DW does!!!!!
Slab Bandits are a good plastic jig to start with..
God loves you just as much as anybody else!!

I have to agree with Roachie. I am not a minnow fisherman. But I don't rule them out. Case in point. Jan 29th three person limit. Something like 70 fish hand tied 1/16 oz jigs 5 on plastic. Very same spot 2 weeks later fish was there couldn't get them to bite. Made a 10 min. run to marina bought some minnows. Came back to spot 20 nice crappie. 17 on minnows 3 on hand tied 0 on plastic. You have to be open minded sometimes.

I believe I'd try a Jigum Jig... One that comes to mind for Eagle Mountain is the TEXACO JIG....

Soft Plastics: Lake Fork Tackle BabyShad in Chartreuse Ice, Rockytops in White/Chartreuse or Black/Chartreuse all can be bought at Finny Tribe. Hand tied: Jigum Jigs, Thumpit Jigs, SlabMeSilly Jigs. I don't buy minnows but maybe once every 2 years and then they wind up in the lake.

I don't know if there is a jig that is the "best". You have to try various types and then lean towards the jigs that you have confidence in. Bobby Garland's baby shad soft plastic jigs are good too.

"Best" is totally subjective, unless you're talking outdoor cooking grills, and then you're talking Big Green Egg....but I digress. Plastic baits--it's hard to beat the Lake Fork Tackle live baby shad. Rocky Tops would come in second. Hand tied jigs--would probably be TNT Jigs or Jigum Jigs. Color--is whatever the crappie want at a given time; you therefore have to carry all colors (or just a few colors and force feed them). Weights--1/16 oz and 1/8 oz will usually do everything you'll need. Time on the water to figure all this stuff out--priceless. Good luck......
