Hey Jerry, is it hero worship if you actually know the man, have spoken in-depth about information and the level of it on tour, and have witnessed how he prepares for a tournament in the three days leading up to the actual event, several times?
If so, then call me a hero worshipper.

Ok, Kevin didn't prefish. IMO, this statement dose not help your case against networking at all. On this body of water, no way do you just stumble those kind of fish without some homework, on a lake I could see it, but not down there. KVD is the best at what he does, thats not a question, but if you think these guys dont get help, your dreaming. Tony, the big stink on here started when someone accused him of getting alot of info that others dont get. Well that is just BS cause they ALL get help and I'm sure tons of it. But the fact of the matter is, is that KVD is just a notch above everyone else. PERIOD. People on here that hate him should just except that as a fact (and your comment did not reflect that you hate him nor not acknowledge that he is the best). Others however....well, they just don't get it..

I'm no hero worshipper at all and actually i was pulling for a couple of friends that were fishing it but I will not sit here and take one thing away from KVD. As Fouz pointed out his win came because of the right decisions. He gained that knowledge from a lot of hours on the water. I don't think anyone handed him a win here on a platter. And the comical part about the comment that he missed the cut there in 2003. I guess that somehow takes the shine off his 2 Classic wins there though. I am curious as to how many guys here have fished there and really have any insight to how that place fishes? I know personally I do not. I would love to hear from someone that has just for the insight.

I wwould still like to see the elites go to a no info rule period and a short practice prior to the tournament. Would really see whos been getting help and whos really got what it takes.

I think the point some of us are making is that tournament fishing today has become more and more a contest not to see who can go out and find...then catch...the best fish but to see who can get the best information.
Has there always been an exchange of information? Yeah, I would say so. But today's technology has taken it to a completely different level. Whereas in the "old days" you may call up a friend or a guide and he may tell you that he caught some fish on a point or in the timber in Wilson Creek...or if you're lucky might even meet you somewhere and show you on a map...now you just get GPS waypoints and can go straight to the spot within 15 feet.
Cell phones...the internet...email...text messages with images...they have all made it easier to not only transfer information, but to actually find and get in contact with people who have information in the first place. Twenty years ago if you were going to go to Missouri to fish a tournament and wanted to find information, how did you do it? Go to a library and read a book about the lake? Call directory assistance and ask for a listing or marinas or guides on the lake?
I'm not trying to tear down anyone's heroes. I think some of us just wish there was a way to make fishing go back in time...to where guys had to rely more on going out and finding their own fish, and less on putting together a network of people who do a lot of the work for them before they ever put their boats in the water. But if you took all the info they all get out of the equation , and KVD probably has the best info, then we would not have hero worship and superstars like we do today...if thats a good thing? And superstars and heros make the fishing industry a lot more $$$$ Actually they don't.... You think Kevin got more sponsors for winning? He's already got the best sponsors. Actually it helps to have a new fresh face winning the classic. With Kevin it's just another Classic win. What sponsor is he gonna get now? Bass Pro? Strike King? Quantum? He's already got the largets sponsors and the most lucrative deals in the industry. The Classic is a career changing event. But not for Kevin anymore, what changes in his life by winning it this year? What would change in Derik Remitz life had he won it? I don't understand the argument a lot of you guys are trying to make. Somehow he got better information and this helps him win? That's like saying so and so told Kevin about Old Folk at Palestine. It's a local community hole, it's not guaranteeing him a win. Furthermore, you had several other guys on the top of the leaderboards in the same area as him. It's not like he's in some backwater bayou some ol cajun feller told him about and the only way in is filling his boat half with water to sink it low enough to get under a bridge or something. He was in a COMMUNITY hole.......

It was that darn "wrist roll" he was doing when he hit those laydowns and stumps!!!
I bet a few of us try that next time we throw that square bill!
Needless to say it's a good post....I didn't want to work today!! Darn Mondays!

If so, then call me a hero worshipper. Of course not Fouz. That puts you on a much higher level.

Not taking anything away from KVD-he is the best there is, but I'd just like to see a no info. rule or somehow ensure all the guys get the same info. That being said KVD still probably wins with or without info.

All I know is that if he comes to Ray Hubbard for the PAA invitational tournament in a couple months, I want to be one of the lucky draws in that three days. To spend a day in the boat with him picking that brain would be an awesome adventure.
