1994 Johnson 150 Fast Strike VRO Fuel/Oil Pump #5868284 02/20/11 01:09 AM

Anyone know where I can find a VRO Fuel/Oil pump for a '94 Johnson 150 Fast Strike for under $200? I took the pump off due to a pool of oil under the pump inside the cover and took it apart. Found a pretty good size crack on the inside of the diaphragm housing piece. I was hoping to find maybe a repair kit of sort, but no luck so far.

I found one on www.marineengine.com for $200.00 but they don't have a picture and I have never ordered from them before. Have seen pictures claiming the same part number, 0435555, but with a few subtle differences.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You really do`nt want to skimp here. They come with the different fittings needed.

I'm with Gary on this one. You can buy a rebuild kit. But that pump is so critical that, in my shop, I will NOT rebuild one. You can get a Non-VRO pump that looks just like the VRO that you have on the engine for a little less. But that would mean that you will have to mix your own oil/gas. Or you could buy a used pump and not connect the oiling side and there again do a premix. But because of the design of the engine. You cannot install an electric pump or a standard pulseing pump. If you do, you will eleminate the choke and vapor recovery on the engine.

Thanks for the information. I am going to order the one for $200. The company seems pretty reputable, and it is a new pump. If by chance this doesn't work, I will go with a look at going with a non-VRO pump and mix the oil. I am not sure how these things work, but common sense says they are an extremely critical part.

I did it and it seemed to work fine plus I never had to prime it! dance2

Nice TBS! If I go that route, I'm sure I will have to start a new thread blush. Man to have that much room under the cover! Had so many intermittent problems with the engine last year, really kept me close to home and spending just as much time troubleshooting as I did fishing. Hope this cures at least this problem, then on to the next! crazy

I ended up paying over $400 for the pump on my 96 Johnson-supposedly no rebuild kit on my model-seems like a good price at 200-I think Mike and Gary will agree not a big savings anymore on the nonVRO pump since OMC figured out people were changing out and premixing for peace of mind-I did however get 14 years out of the first unit so I was pushing my luck...

I have ordered several parts from marineengine.com and have never had a problem. They ship fast and the parts are always what they are supposed to be.
