okay, i am not a professional fisherman by anymeans of the imagination, i am not even a great fisherman in general. i fish tournamets quite often and have never won a tournament. i don't have a fancy boat(about 12 years old) and a truck even older that i pull it with. a friend of mine has a company and said that if i wore a fishing jersey with his advertising he would pay for entry fees to all the tournaments that i fished. i see these pros on tv wearing them with advertising on them all the time and even see local guys on my lake that wear these jerseys with stuff all over them. the friend that wants me to advertise is for a company that has nothing to do with fishing. I don't want to be "that guy" that everyone talks about at the boat ramp. in my opinion fishing in some ways has become perverted in the fact its all about who has the biggest boat with the most horsepower and who looks the part. what is peoples opinion on this. i have found multiple websites that make cool jerseys but i don't want to strut around looking like a goofball that "thinks" he is a hot shot when I know i am not. but i like the idea of someone else paying my entry fees!

I'd do it, entry fees are a big expense. Who gives a hoot what the other guys are saying. May give some intimidation factor, help you place higher.

I'd do it if I were you. Screw what everybody says or thinks. I bet 95% of the people on this forum would do it if they got their entry fees paid.

Thanks for the opinions. glad to know most of you probably would do it. i just saw this guy once with a big rig with a wrap and had all the fishing advertising on it and was showing off for everyone and backed his trailor off the side of the ramp and they had to get a tractor to pull him out! I jus thought to myself what a you know what! in my mind it was really funny because he was acting like he was some bad a pro.

alright i think i will do it. will probably stay away from the other advertising. they have stock advertising for lots of fishing brands. of course they don't sponsor me. but you can custom the shirts. i have a champion bass boat and they even have the champion logo even though i am pretty sure champion went out of business. ya ll can check the website. if you have a club team or something might be a good place to get you a shirt. www.thewinningteam.com

Whenever I see something funny, I smile/giggle/laugh....whatever. Sometimes, it's somebody doing something ignorant, or stupid. But, I hate it that it might hurt their feelings. The thing to do is to learn to do it like a duck, let it be "like water off a duck's back". BTW insufficient funds is my lifestyle, there would be nothing funny about your gig. And, I might add, a lot of those "pros" are struggling too. So, do your best, have a good time.
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

As long as it isn't a tampon company............

No, its not a tampon company, actually its victoria's...just kidding. its actually an oil field company. he fished too and knows there are lots of oil field folks that fish so he thought it might get him a little business here and there.

I would jump all over that. Advertising is the key and that is majority of the game for the big boys.
Heck if you dont want to do it, give me his number and i will as i work in the oil field also
