Longhorn Park is my favorite. Very peaceful little area with a free boat launch. The bank fishing is rocky and it seems due to all the scratches on my crankbaits, the bottom is rocky also.
Which way are you coming from?

right now, with the colder weather- fish the barges. rocky creek seems to have better water around it. if you really want to get serious, sour some maize/cottonseed mill/alfalfa cubes in a handful of toad sacks for a week- then carry it out to the lake and somehow get that nasty stuff out off the bank about casting distance.. that will draw in the catfish and carp... carp are fun to catch, and catfish are fun to eat

thanks for the info not really a big fan of carp. catfish on the other hand catfish is very appetizing. does shad or cut bait not do well there for catfish? i rather not go the route you suggested doesn't seem as much of a challenge. if i do that then to me it seems like i'm fishing a stocked pond. don't get me wrong, doing it that way guarantees a good catch.

I've fished from the banks pretty much all over BB recently and didn't catch any catfish. But I have seen some a few vids of some healthy cats being caught from deep waters out in the lake...via boat.
Recent Notables: 40lb Flathead, 30lb Carp, 25lb Buffalo.

if i do that then to me it seems like i'm fishing a stocked pond...doing it that way guarantees a good catch. It will improve your odds, but nothing guarantees a good catch. Look at it this way- it puts bank fishermen on a more level playing field with boaters that can go where the fish would normally be. There's not a lot more futile than fishing from the bank when 99% of the fish naturally stay in the holes beyond casting range. You may as well be fishing in a swimming pool. And if you get a lot of bank fishermen in one place, it becomes a "recipe contest" to see whose bait recipe attracts them the best. BTW, that remark isn't about Bennbrook Lake in particular since I've never been there.

I think bank fishing adds an extra challenge that boaters don't have. We have to bring the fish to us, instead of going to them.

Lake is very hard, when you get a good rain fish the creek the Benbrook lets out at rocky creek. its where you have to pay 3 dollars and its the creek where the boat ramp is. the only time I fish benbrook is when it rains hard. Me and my son have pulled some nice cats out of there when it rains. Use worms or cut shad.

Hi All,
I too live not too far from BB but have never fished there. So Rocky Creek Park is better bet than the others?

Looking for a good place for me and my son to bank fish at Benbrook Lake. We only live about 10 min. away....... Any suggestions ?????? I also like fishing by the dam, near the pump station. The hybrids will run under the lights in the summer, and the bluegills are usuall plentiful for kids to catch.
