I'm new to baitcasters, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities to try this technique.

Thanks!

I've had it work for me pretty good, but every once in a while it will not.

This technique works every time. Sometimes you will need to crank the reel a couple turns while riding the spool to get bad ones out. If it don't come out the first time keep trying and it will come out

Works better on mono/floro than it does on braid.

Bet I had one this past weekend that technique would not work on! Buddy sat down for 45 minutes and picked it out. I would rather throw the rod in the lake! No but that looks good for the mild to moderate lashes! Thanks for sharing.

Make sure you aren't pushing the thumb bar when you try this. I just changed to clutch pawl on a Chronarch because somebody did that.

It does work on mono. I've never tried it on fluoro cause I'm scared it will kink it somehow. Doesn't work well on braid.

Guys, did you see how his reel looked before he started? He cast straight down into the water, that was no mild one. And I've had plenty that I swore that it would probably not work, but dang it still gets 'em out pretty good- the ones I call miracle jobs! splat

Braid? Don't think so either. Luckily, a lot of us have other rods we use and work on the 'impossible' ones when we get home.

Like others here learned this trick about a year ago and it's worked great when I needed it to. Definitely should be your first go to step to get a backlash out.

This trick really works-saw it on Bill Dance once and it does work great on the worst bird nest you can get!

I always just loosen the drag and pull against it. Then when you hit that loop pull the loop hard until it stops and start pulling on the main line again.

Go to the sewing section at Walmart and buy a crochet needle. Around a buck. I put a cork on the end of mine to make it easier to find in the glove box.
