While wandering around Moldy Chum earlier, it occurred to me that there are several varieties of Flinger americanus in this sport of ours. Which one best describes you?
Bonus points: Which of these categories do our Usual Suspects (Robin, BassBug, PondBass, SteveNDallas, etc) fit into?

Redneck with a fly pole sounds like it describes me. Either that or a Troot hating bass junkie.

Seeing as my favorite type of fishing is catfishing, and no matter what I'm fishing for I prefer to use bait, and it's my life's goal to catch a dozen catfish on the fly in a day ... I chose "redneck with a fly pole."

I see Robin, BB, PB and SND being in a posse. Riding with their bucket hats low and to the side wearing matching black Buff facerchiefs with carp all blood and guts style cruising in their 4 man pontoon boat(party type not inflatable) all leaning to the side throwing their carpy gang signs at the rest of of going full out on their trolling motor throwing a tiny wake my way as I bank fish. All laughing and pointing cuz I'm stuck there somewhere between not getting my line hung-up in the tree behind me and catching something bigger then a bluegill.
Oh y'all ain't better then me....jerks.

I'm a transplant here, forced out of my acumen due to a changing economy. While far from a purist, I spent 30 years chasing "troot" in Colorado, where I became spoiled in the virtues of classic fly fishing.
I awoke one day in Richardson, TX with 4 flyrods in my garage, and my soul desperately needing a fly fishing fix. I went to the interweb, where I found this magical place, and low & behold, I realized that there were, indeed, real fly flingers in Texas.
I found some ponds, creeks, stinky culverts and city parks where I could placate my desire to flyfish, even if the targeted species did not include a single "troot".
2 years later, I've relocated to East Texas, settled in to the quiet countryside with my bride of 25 years and found some real peace in the outdoors here. I've adapted to warm water fly fishing, taught myself a myriad of new fly patterns, and heck, I even bought an 8wt rig, which I consider neanderthal but necessary.
If I had to categorize myself as a flyfisher based on the choices in the poll, then "other" would best describe me.

Other: One who gives enough of a sh*t to spell Buddhist properly. (Bless you, my errant son.) Mea culpa, sir. I'd fix it if I thought I could without messing up the poll. Can't I have partial credit for getting one of the h's in there? Or maybe I was thinking of someone who derives great inner peace from perusing the Cabelas south of Austin.
