i love the strenght of braid and love how it cast and comes off the reel plus it last me alot longer than flourocarbon so on my worms and jigs was going to start putting a 3ft leader of flourocarbon bc i know it will get me more bites in the day i tryed it for the first time at squaw on sunday. i pitched it in a tree and and got my first bite and then set the hook and broke it off at the knot looked like the flourocarbon is the one that broke i was using 50lb power pro and 20lb seaguar invizx o ya it broke right at the knot. tied the uni to uni knot with 6 wrapes on each the braid and flourocarbon. did i set the hook to hard? never had a prob before. was my knot bad? or is this knot not the best to use?

As the post above talks about, you need to use leader line, I like the seagar or the p-line leader, I use the triple surgeon knot, try to be really careful when you tie your knot so you do not burn the flouro while cinching down the knots.

I use the double-uni knot with no problems. Try 8 wraps with the braid and 5-6 with the fluoro. If you were up close when you set the hook you need to adjust your hook set to more of a sweep set. Braid has no stretch. Just lift your rod and start reeling.
If you jerk the snot out of it like you would normally do on mono you will break it a lot.

ok guys i tied all the knots said above and tied it to something that wouldnt move set the hook pretty hard alot of times didnt come untied but when i tried to break my line it came untied before my line broke with all knots i tryed retied a few times with each knot to make sure i tied a good knot should i just make sure my drag is set good but dont think a fish could pull as hard as i did with the drag set shouldnt have any probs if they did had to put my thumb on the line to stop my drag to have the knot come untied

Did the knot break or did the line break close to the knot? If the knot is in tact and the line broke close to the knot then you might have stressed the line when you tied the knot making a weak spot in the line. I just don't see how the double uni knot will break if it is tied correctly instead of the line breaking first.
Leader line will hold up better than standard fluorocarbon line but remember fluoro. has very little stretch and braid has no stretch. You are putting quite a shock on the fluoro and the shorter your leader the less line you have as a shock absorber. Another option would be to add a leader of a good cofiament line like P-Line CXX. It has good shock and abrasion resistance qualities.

Since you have virtually no stretch with the braid - what would be wrong with a copoly leader that is a little more knot forgiving? You aren't going to lose any sensitivy with a 3' section are you?

Not to be rude, but I think you must be tying it wrong for it to slip with those lines. I use a double uni all the time. I have braid on all but 2 reels. It should not slip. I do tie the braid side with about 8 wraps and the fluro 4-5 wraps so that they are the same size.

I prefer the bloood knot just because it is the knot I have learned to tie with confedence. I have tried several other knots like the double uni and the Albright. To me the blood knot just passes through the guides better. Another thing I always do is I super glue the knot and then flush cut the tag ends when it dries. The glue holds the knot and puts a protective coating on it. I use the super glue that comes in a stand up bottle with a nail polish type brush in the lid. I rarely have any line failures at the splice. On Falcon I use the saltwater leader material as it comes in 30 and 40 pound test. Patience and a lot of spit is required when tying.
