I hate to be the bearer of bad news ALLANGT, but you can't fish that section of the Trinity. TPWD has marked that stretch of the Trinity offlimits all the way down to Ellis county. Why? Because of PCB, chlordane and DDE. It's illegal to possess any fish from there. For the official word on this go here: TPWD frown

Hey Uncle Dewey, There is a cunsumption ban(you cant eat the fish) from the 7th street bridge in fort worth all the way down to ellis county.
YOU CAN STILL FISH THIS AREA OF THE TRINITY BUT YOU CANT EAT WHAT YOU CATCH.YOU HAVE TO THROW EVERY FISH BACK IN THE RIVER.
AND IT IS ILLEGAL TO POSSESS ANY FISH FROM THE TRINITY .YOU CANT KEEP ANY FISH THERE EVEN IF IT IS FOR BAIT .

I go there all the time to fish.I just throw every thing I catch Back in the trinity river.

I even called the local game warden and asked if what i was doing was okand he said yes just make sure you dont eat the fish and throw every fish you catch back.

There is another consumption ban on lake worth...The same rules apply.

Yes. I've known this for a long time firefly515, but it seems nobody else in this thread knows it. That's why I posted the link. Don't need people getting tickets and/or developing cancer because of a lack of knowledge.

To me, if you can't posses, then you can't fish. I know TECHNICALLY there is a difference, but I'd rather fish and keep a few good 'uns for the fryer than spend the time, money and energy for strictly catch and release. Especially since there are about 10 really great lakes within an hour drive of DFW. Why bother with a poisonous creek named Trinity? fish

Lmao...I would never eat a fish from the Trinity River, but I would still like to catch the fish.
I have a freezer full of crappie from Grapevine so I don't even want to think about filleting any fish.

The TPWD website clearly states "catch and release is lawful" on the Trinity from the 7th street bridge to Ellis county.I been fishing that hole at Ederville Road for the last 2 or 3 years, caught some decent bass. Here lately though the gar population has gotten out of control and ate up all the bass.A couple of weeks ago I tied into something huge,I could'nt even get it to the surface.I'm guessing a big cat, drum or carp, maybe 25 or 30 lbs.
