Seems to me that if they were stolen at the ramp then you would not get enough speed to sling grease on your fenders unless you drive really fast in the parking lot.

If they were stolen somewhere else and you drove to the lake then that would explain the grease being slung all over your fenders. Or could it be probable that you hit or drug your wheels up against something and knocked them off on the way to the lake.

But I doubt very seriously that driving in the parking lot of the public boat ramp would sling grease all over your fenders. Just my opinion.

The grease would not have to have been slung. They could have gotten grease on their hands and wiped it off on the fenders. It also says that they could tell where someone had pried them off. If it had slung the grease off from driving I don't know how much would have been in sight on top of the fenders-IMO.

After yesterday I've decided that I will launch from Lake Fork Marina from now on. Cameron, maybe you guys could charge another dollar for the launch fee and install a surveillance system for us.

Thanks for your opinion, but it's wrong. I'm a MSgt in the Air Force so I hope I have a little common sense. My boat is kept in a storage unit until I move back to the DFW area after I retire in 4 months. I drove straight from Shreveport to the ramp to meet my buddy. I have three bearing buddies as one of my hubs still has the oil filled ones. The two they stole were facing away from the road and if you have been to that ramp, you can see someone coming from a ways away on the water. If you know how much grease is kept in there, it's easy to see once you pull someone out of the water, it doesn't take much to sling a little watered down grease onto the side of my fenders.

Knocked them off? Really? Did I sideswipe a 18-wheeler on my way that I don't remember? Thanks Preacher Ed for reiterating the point of my center cap being pried.

A thief is a thief and it's probably more about the rush than the actual value. Plus, it's a quick job. Take a hammer, a few good hits and their off. Then you can sell them or put them on your own boat. They aren't exactly cheap either.

Billy,
Since you want to quote me the let me point something out to you since you have just " a little common sense " being a MSgt in the Air Force.
Grease is supposed to be water resistant. If your grease is watered down then you are asking for trouble. From someone that actually knows some thing. To you who only has a "little common sense".

Did I say you hit a 18 wheeler? No you jackwagon, I did not. Could it be you dragged a curb and the marks you see on the hubs are from that? Or are you an expert in tool markings in the Air Force?

3 grease hubs and 1 oil filled. Looks like you have had wheel issues before. But I guess that was someone else fault. Certainly not yours because after all you are a MSgt in the Air Force and have just " a little sense. "

Wow, quit being such a douche nozzle. The man was stolen from and you want to accuse him of being to stupid to know the difference. You clearly have no experience in having your hard earned stuff taken away from you. Just leave the thread it clearly wasn't put here for you floppy 4 inch.

First, let me say I was a little pissed for someone stealing something of mine. For that, I apologize. You're right. Grease is supposed to be water resistant, but if it's so resistant then why do we put protectors over it? If I back into the water with nothing covering the grease because someone stole them, then how is that my fault? As I mentioned, only one of the center caps, not hubs had a mark where you could see a screwdriver had pried it away some.

As far as having 3 grease hubs and one oil filled, let me fill you in on something. After towing a lot of miles on a boat, the brake pads wear down. Mine was owned by a FLW pro who put thousands of miles on them. They wore down so bad it put grooves in the rotor. I replaced both rotors and pads and put bearing buddies on them. On the oil filled one, I pulled the screw to check the oil level since there wasn't a sight window and when I did, some oil came out and decided to replace that hub. I haven't gotten around to changing the other one yet.

By the way, since I am a "jackwagon" and you are someone that knows it all I guess, it is "something" not "some thing". I can't believe I'm having to defend myself for something being stolen from me.

I have had my little brake release disc stolen from my trailer 4 times in the past year. The trailer works fine without it as long as your taillights are working. I guess that the peopel who take them just don't want to go the 200 yards from the ramp to the marine dealer and buy one.
I have also had my trailer backed into twice and no one leaves a note just takes off.

Retirement best job ever.

Sorry bout the thieves bud.

Can't stand them.

But what are Bearing Buddies?

And what's a "Jackwagon?"

Glad someone could clarify exactly why your stuff wasn't stolen.
Whew! Case closed.
