I bought 2 hds 8's during Thanksgiving. One unit was bad and I sent it in December 20th. I keep calling and all the customer service reps keep telling me is I will have my unit by the end of the week. This has been going on for 3 weeks. Now the lady today told me it could possibly be 3-4 more weeks!!! You have got to be kidding me. I now see why so many people have been buying the humminbirds. Great units when they are working, but their turn around on returns has to be the worst. End of rant.

Most places have a 30 day return policy. Why did you not take it back where you bought it? Sorry to hear that.

I ordered it over the internet and Cabela's told me to call Lowrance's customer service. A guy walked me through a couple simple steps and then told me to send it in. They keep telling me that they have none in stock, so they can't get me a new unit.

I appreciate it Kirby. I left the service number at work. I will PM Jason with the information on Monday. I love the unit I still have. It has won my partner and I some pretty good money. It just sucks spending that kind of money and one unit did not work.

I feel your pain, had a similar experience with Navico. I started having problems with my new HDS 8 and LSS-1 from the beginning when I bought them in Jan 2010. Bass Pro did the initial install (did not purchase unit from them) and they did a great job on the installation so I decided to take it back to BPS to see if they could help determine what was wrong. Of course when I showed up at BPS it was working fine. Then back to the lake and it was hit or miss with the Structure Scan working and mostly not working (No Source message). Thoughout 2010 I talked to Navico and got different solutions to try with each person I talked to. I sent the LSS box back to them and it tested fine. Then I was told to replace ethernet cables which I did and still had problems. After eight months of looking for a solution and putting up with it mostly not working I decided to return to BPS where they discovered the HDS unit was bad (bubbles around edge of screen)so I sent it back to Navico for replacement. Of course they said 3 to 5 days to test the unit and ultimately said unit was bad and would send replacement. I sent the unit to them in late November 2010, the replacement unit was finally shipped from Navico on December 28. Huge disappointment for such expensive electronics and how Navico handled my problems.

When Lowrance was a small corporation they were more responsive to their customers. The corporate greed and the quest will rune their good name and products. In the past when they were made in the Tulsa would not leave their plant! That's my take on it!

Lowrance has improved there CS dept. in the last year or so.
dskelly7, Sorry to hear about your trouble's, but CS techs where trying to trouble shoot your problem the right way and the quickest way. With the information was given to them. Most of time, when you get that message its either voltage problem from your battery 2. ether net cord is kink or bad 3rd. something wrong with the LSS-1 and 4th the head unit. Since 2d sonar, mapping and other function on the HDS unit was working. I can see why they check the HDS unit last.
IMO, you got your unit back in a short amount of time with the Holiday in Nov. and in Dec. Also between shipping the unit the in and back to your house.
