This is one tough lake to crack. Boated one blue on shad. Even the sure shot struck out. I can usually catch a bunch of channels on sure shot when the water is warmer..but that strategy doesn't seem to work in the winter. There doesn't seem to be any big fish in that lake. Maybe they are in the southern part of the lake in deeper water.

Fish the 103 and especially the Hwy 147 bridge, if you don't do any good at either of those spots, the catfish aren't biting.

I fished the 147 area and slightly south north to hanks creek. 1000s of trees and each one had about 5 old trot lines on it.

I was fishing off the shore of the 103 boat launch bridge last week and I was approached by what I thought at first was a Game Warden. The guy turned out to be from the Army Corps of Engineers.
He politely asked me to move my truck off the beach as some vehicles were leaking oil and in turn when the water rises again, it would pollute the lake. I talked with him for a while while I was packing up and come to find out he had a friend in the Corps that regularly catches BIG cats out of Rayburn.
He gave me his card and asked me to email him and he would get me a map and GPS of where these fish were.
After talking with his friend on the phone, he agreed to let me in on his spot and how to catch these fish in Rayburn. He sent me pics of a 75lb cat he caught and of numerous others that were 20+lbs that his kids were catching.
As soon as I figure out how to post pics on here, I will post them of these fish he has been catching.
I can't wait for it to warm a little and get me some.
To be continued.... hooked
