There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness". Dave Berry

If that Johnson is in good condition then I say offer him 4,150 cash if you have that much coming back at you. Those are great boats and plus you can always fix as you go. I think that is a fair deal if all titles are good and the hull is good shape. Git it and tear it up!

Have someone do a compression check on the motor and look at the lower unit. Easy to do and well worth the money to check these items that are costy to fix.

Good boat, but definitely on the high side. Looks like it needs new carpet and seats. I don't see any graphs or prop. I would say 2k at best, assuming the engine checks out by a mechanic. Go to blue book, it will give you a couple of free values to see what the bank would loan on the boat. IMO

The question is how much you want to spend and how the boat checks out. Take it from someone that in the past just jumped on what I thought was a good deal and did not get the boat checked out. I got a very bad deal. The transom was soft and needed to be replaced. That was my first boat. The link with the 92 Ranger looks like a good deal, but if your budget will only allow 5,000 offer no more than $4,000 for this one. A little work and ypu can have a nice boat with not much in it. You need to think a head, graphs, small things that will need to fixed and other stuff you will need to add and replace. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

I did the same thing last Sept. and thought I was getting a good deal. Now I'm stuck trying to get the money to replace rings on a piston and it ain't cheap!! Get the compression checked and TAKE A TEST RIDE!!! Have the motor AND transom thoroughly checked out. Don't fall in love with it till you've had this done.
