the boat and motor are both 93 models and the owner said the only things that dont work is the front livewell, and the only thing the is broken is the rear fishing seat mount will slide out if pulled up.. the upholstery is a little rough around the edges but would last me a few more years..

the owner is asking $4,900.. What do you guys think?

I traded a 1992 372V a couple of years ago that had a new 80lb MK TM and a good cover and got less than that, and my boat was a whole lot cleaner.
My thought is this boat is worth around $3500 if it checks out. I would suggest that you stand on the cavitation plate, holding onto the motor, and look for stress cracks in the transom. Then I would take it to North Texas Fiberglass for a free once over.

Good advice here. Those older Rangers were built like a tank and will last forever. I would probably not go over $4K and make sure everything on the motor checks out.

yea seems a little pricey to me too being that it needs carpet...plus you dont know how it runs yet. Do u know this guy? My first boat was a 93 Pro Craft I gave $3k for. It was in pretty rough shape but I knew the guy and trusted him.... Turned out to be a really good boat with no problems at all... You just never know what your buying when your buying used so get the best deal you can!

There is a bolt in the lower unit that if you undo it and let the oil dribble out, you can check for metal shavings. This and a compression test and a test drive. Check the transom and inspect it real hard. 4k Max another thing. Get in it and walk the entire boat. Look for soft spots. As stated before, don't fall in love with a boat until everything has been checked out!

That tandem trailer alone is worth most of the difference in the price of the two boats.

Thanks for all for the responses.. The members of this forum are great at keeping another member from making a mistake..

I was hoping this was just to good of a deal to pass up, In May I will find out if I am going to have to go to Libia for a 3 year construction project. If this was a great deal I was going to jump on it and then just resale the boat when May gets here.

That 92 481v and the 93 482v are both awesome boats and really set the bar for how people should take care of their boats...

thanks for the suggestion KINGWOODCAT but i dont think the owner would want to, or let me take his boat on a 600 mile trip.. But I would much rather have a tandem trailer..

thanks for all of the help. i will pass for a while then stop back in and see if he has lowered the price any, if so i can get it checked out ad make him an offer..

IF...& I would have it all checked out by a reputable mechanic...but IF the hull is sound & the motor check's out then you CANNOT go wrong buying that boat.

I owned a 92 375V for 12 years...& I still have times when I wished I had that boat back...it was a GREAT boat!

IF it all checks out then buy it & put a little elbow grease into it & you'll have a keeper!

Just from viewing the pics I would offer him around $3,500 for it though & haggle from there.

I have a 1990 Ranger 370V that I got to sale. Has a Mercury 150 Blackmax XR4 on it. Power head was rebuilt 2 years ago. I don't have any pictures right now but I would take 4K for it. It has fish finder at the console and bow. 74# minnkota trolling motor. 3 bank charger. I'm in the process of putting new steering cables on it right now. Put new carpet in it 1 1/2 years ago. If you would like for me to send you pictures please reply to rodney.heins@yahoo.com

Regards,
Rodney

Not sure where you are from or where the boat is located, but you might also talk to the dealer in the local area or where serviced. I bought my 1992 372 from an older gentleman who lived in Denver and I went and got it. I did my homework before I went there and contacted the local dealer where he bought the boat and had it serviced. The guy told me if he were buying a used boat, that was the one he would buy, and the boat was 14 years old when I bought it. I had him inspect the bearings before I went out there and he said one side needed replaced. I paid for it figuring even if I didn't buy the boat when I got there, the bearing replacement was worth it just in case I did buy it, and I did!!!
