I've been sporting Maui Jim's for the past two years and am looking at getting something different. I'd like to get something with some larger lenses to cover more of my eye and have been considering Oakley's. Anyone got any input on anything other than Maui's - even ones to stay away from. Money is no object on these....

Look at these.

These are larger frames and lenses to cover the whole eye. These frames are as tough as they come.

Be sure and get a good polycarbonate lens, no matter what brand you get. They are much more shatter resistant than glass or plastic and are the only way to go if you spend alot of time on the water. Vermillion is a good lens color choice for all around use.

These are SWEET.(Polarized)

Lots of eye coverage and you can replace lenses if they become scratched. I have several pairs of oakleys and they are the best IMO.

It costs me about $85 (with shipping) to replace the lenses on my MJ's. Any ideas on those Oakley's? I might give those a spin at the sales counter - what will they set me back for the polarized version?

I wear the Oakley Half Jacket XLJ black iridium polarized and I love them. Lightweight and durable but I like the wraparound design as it minimizes glare. Very nice and I swear by mine. I fish over 200 days a year so I really take my eyes seriously and these have held up well. Plus the lenses are interchangeable which makes it easy to match conditions. I'm a bit biased though so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Email sent as well. Mark

try the maui jim titanium sports, the Ka'anapalin style has large lenses, super light and comfortable, polycarbonate, a little pricey but they are the best imo.

Oakleys--- I have them(i have amber ploarized lenses) and absolutely love the clarity, and the way I can see into the water.

~~The only NEGATIVE thing I have to say is that it is hard to wear a hat with them because the earpieces are straight....well yesterday I had enough. I marked them where they sat on the top of my ear, then took a heat gun and heated up the place I needed to bend. SLowly applied pressure and it worked perfect!! Still strong as ever and now they dont hit my hat( or my hat hit them)

~ I am not very safe with them and jus throw them around,, lenses havent scratched at all- they even ride in my side console without a case and still havent scratched.

They give me excellent coverage all around the eye. Thats important because when you have shades on - you eye dialates to let in more light. If sunlight is getting in on the sides- it is damaging your eye.

I use These,

I can actually see what the fish is thinking with these:

But seriously I have been using these for quite some time, as you can see by the wear...I don't think the look has ever really gone away.

I prefer Serengeti, they are great sunglasses, I have been using them for years. The same pair, they really last a long time. I paid around $145.00 for them and am glad I did.

Man, I would love to get a good pair of polarized sun glasses. But I treat mine with NO love, or like most of the times, I just misplace them.
