They just don't get it. "Plants have feelings too" will be out tomorrow. rolleyes

Is it just me or did that activist seem a little light in the loafers?

I teach biology and get scientific journals. The activist may have been referring to a recent paper published regarding the neurology of some Families of fish. The paper obviously took no position on whether fish should be killed, but the results revealed fish do have many of the same pathways for sensation as mammals.
The study also discovered fish remember pain, would exhibit stress responses and try to avoid situations which reminded them of previous discomfort.
I think most of us wouldn't be surprised as fishermen. I don't worry about it much myself, but I do not let fish anguish unnecessarily.

By the time they are fileted on both sides, they usually stop kicking. My dad would come out of his grave and horse laugh about this.

My first response was to laugh, but the scary part is that there are people out there who are actually seeking legislative action to "recognize fish feel pain". Seriously?!
I feel pain too - right in my backside every time I see one of these stories! I have never met a sportsman who tried to inflict unnecessary suffering on an animal. But, every organism in the animal kingdom exists at the expense of other organisms, including the deluded idgets in this story. Unless we all become capable of photosynthesis, I guess some other creatures will have to feel some pain.

I saw video on Channel 5 news this evening and had to laugh. What's sad is that the TV channel would waste their air time with this nonsense story.

If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life,
there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

I saw that too last night on channel 5. In the history of recorded events, no democracy has ever lasted much past 300 years. Something like this is just another example of why ours won't either. I was always taught that man had dominion over the fishes of the sea (and other animals). But of course, that was before these type people came along.

Were not at the top of the food chain to give hugs and kisses. These tree huggers need to get a clue.

Ok the catfish are hurting - I acknowledge their pain.

Now, where is my fillet knife!
