I can tie one in under 40 mins. I taught beginners who had never tied a fly to tie these at a workshop FFF held. The techniques are simple and straight forward and the materials list consists of a hook, thread ,lead wire (for weight) ,monofilament (3 sizes) head cement and permanent markers.

I primarily use this fly on sheephead and finicky redfish in clear water . Mostly sight fishing. Would like to try it on bonefish and permit one day.

god how long does it take you to whip up one of those? do you even fish with a fly that nice? sometimes i see flies online that look more like a piece of art than a lure

It seems to me that it would be a one sheephead fly... Don't they crunch off the delicate looking claws?

Not a criticism, just curious. That is a tremendous looking crab. smile

I have'nt figured out how to use the multiple quote so I will answer these in reverse order.
Chuck'n'duckin' These will last for dozens of fish , they are extremely durable. The claws are mono wrapped in thread covered with head cement.
