pezz, talked to the local oklahoma fisheries biologists for lake waurika, he says that the hybrid bass are not reproducing in that lake, what you are seeing is that this time of the year with a north wind they will move up in 3 or 4 feet of water by the dam, and in feb you will start to see eggs in the females. They will not attempt to spawn till april if at all.
read the post by smokenquack and did learn something, but it is not known to be taking place any where around here. Still sounds like fun, so what ever they are doing, i am game for catching them.

Hey, Pezz 'n Sam,
Sam suggested bridges. (out of Scotland, I guess.) How about Saturday? supposed to be warm and sunny. I bet Sam is going at 6:00 AM. Makes me cold to think about it. I'm open to any place.
Jerry

Hey guys. New to this forum but not to crappie fishing at arrowhead. I lived on miller shores just off of the third bridge when i was growing up and fished there all my life. I miss the good ole days when my dad and i would fish all night and go home with three wire baskets as full as we could stuff em. Now that was good eating!!

Just talked to my father for a fishing report. Some of you might know him, he lives on the corner at the blinking light in scotland. He knows those waters better than ANYONE and he taught those vietnamese how to fish there 20 years ago! He says that the crapie are moving back in but they are in deeper water at the second and third bridge. Fishing 10-12 feet deep with slip corks and chartreuse jigs with pink heads. They bite late at night ans very early morning. He says that they are typically gone by 10 a.m.. Hope that helps.

2nd bridge moreso as of the last couple days.
Family says third was hitting last week But once the 50's and 60's moved in they showed up more at the 2nd. I'm one of "those Vietnamese" but 20 years ago I was only ten.

There are a few regulars out there my dad knows and after fishing over the years I know but I only know faces. I grew up crappie fishing and moved to Dallas but still go back to WF to fish with the old man. I'll check it out this weekend and report back. There was nothing offensive about your comment.

Recent Changes

Stocking at Plum Lake in Wichita Falls has been postponed again due to a golden alga bloom. Instead, trout will be stocked at South Weeks on January 27.

Latest report from the old man is that the crappie are biting but slow in 9-11 feet of water with chartruese tail and black body jigs. Second and third bridge active with most folks catching between 4 and 12. Good luck guys!
