Well my H20c got to where it would not lock onto the satelites. I located an external antennae. that has helped somewhat. I found this in my search for a solution: [color:#CC0000][/color]The ifinder H2Oc units are having problem with satellite lock. They will not lock at the exact location. Mostly all the users of this unit are facing problems. It says there is a frequency defect in this unit. Not in all but in some cases they say that connecting an external antenna to this unit helped them for some time, but the same problem returned again in few months. If you have not tried connecting external antenna then you can try connecting the external antenna and see if that is helping. But this just the temporarily solution. This unit is actually having defect. At Lowrance service center they say to return the unit for repairing. But they charge near to $150 plus service charge. And that comes to cost of new unit which is near to $250 at ebay sites. Actually its not worth to get it repaired from Lowrance service center because, they dont give any warranty for this repair. Even if the same problem exists after one week, they will ask you to send it again to service center and charge the repairing cost.you can still try connecting external antenna and see,if that is helping.-------- Thanks.Helpmech. If so, that explains why Lowrance discontinued the unit. As with many Lowrance products, the Company has no desire to provide service after the warranty runs out. That is a complete shame. It seems that a class action lawsuit might be the only wakeup call to Lowrance. Their response that the unit is a dinosaur in the electronics world does not justify their service policy. If their products experience poor performance due to their using less that dependable parts, in my opinion, they should remedy their problem. After all it is not the customers' fault. Rather it is poor design by the manufacturer. This is an example of why many customers are so willing to switch to Hummingbird products. Wake up Lowrance and stand behind your products!

I found another unhappy customer that gave to following review:
"Don't Purchase !!" by: Member id retirednavy98 ( Feedback Score Of 242)
Once Again...Another item by Lowrance that never worked right since new out of the box. I could not get the unit to ever work right. I thought it was something I was doing or not doing right. A friend purchased the same model unit and had the same problems. Slow to acquire satelites and current location. Others in our group that had Garmins or Magellans had no problems and had to wait for us... Eventually my unit would acquire satellites at all. I attempted to phone Lowrance...was on hold 1 hour. I could not get a return number so I mailed the unit back with a letter explaining what the problem was. Lowrance told me the unit could not be fixed. They said they could mail me a refurbished unit for $169.00 or mail my unit back with a bill of $60.00 for the bench work or they would dispose of the unit...which I elected to have them do. A previous review I wrote was on a $500.00 X-91 Fish Locator which I had the same luck with. I now own a Hummingbird and I love it with no problems. I will never purchase a Lowrance product again.
What a shame that Lowrance does not support its products or ensure that they work correctly before marketing.

I have an H2O and haven't had any problems with it either accuracy or lock on. I paid about 180 right after they first came out and no complaints.

Are you sold on a protable? What about a Portable fish finder/GPS or a permanent Fishfinder/GPS Combo. You can get into some really afordable units and get more. Like Humminbird 385ci Combo: Get you a bigger screen, GPS Mapping and Fishfinder in a Portable unit. Alot of IceFisherman are using Portable GPS FishFinders to drive over the ice to their locations then use the finder to help catch fish. Just anotehr alternative my want to consider. http://store.humminbird.com/products/356811/385ci_Combo_Portable
