I don't understand why FLW puts such strict off limits on the collegiate tournaments. The whole mexican side was off limits last year on falcon, almost half of toledo bend is off limits and everything north of coleman is off limits on rayburn. Pretty stupid if you ask me. But then again they are THE BEST collegiate trail out there.
Congrats to the winners and to OU for having the best day out of any of the teams.

After all the complaining about not getting to fish it, then you get in, and yet you still didn't fish it?
What is off limits on Choke? Small lake unlike Rayburn; Whole lake is in this country, unlike Falcon; whole lake is in TX unlike Toledo.

I think the area they were fishing was a release area. Im sure they didn't intentionally cheat, but rules are rules.

We got confirmed to fish it then put back on the waiting list, i'm glad we didn't have to fish this weekend tho. Have you seen the off limits on Rayburn? The entire north end of the lake is off limits from Veach up. That's alot of really good water that is off limits. In my opinion it makes luck a bigger factor in who does well when you make the lake that small when you make such a ridiculous off limits. I know it's the same rules for everyone, but it does create an un even playing field in a way. Also on Toledo bend they cut out about half of the lake. that is off limits. There is alot of really good water north of Pendelton that is now unfishable for that tournament. I know i'm complaining alot, but I just think it's retarted that they set these things up like little tee ball tournaments and take away some of the best areas on the lakes they fish.

I hope the real explanation/story of why they were DQ'd comes out...The "release" area is usually the "take off" area, so surely that is not what it is....Something sure sounds "fishy" here, hope they aren't just trying to sweep it under the rug, because this has me curious.

But then again they are THE BEST collegiate tournament out there ABA was a lot better when they were still going. Now that all the big networks like ESPN and FOX/FLW they babied it down quite a bit.

Even the Elite Pro's make a rule mistake every now and then. A few years back KVD let his son operate the boat during practice. That wasn't allowed and he was DQ'd. Let's not try to make more of this than that.

They were fishing down at the dam and they threw over the bouys. They thougt that it would be o.k. since they're boat didn't go across the buoys but apparently the rules say that you can't cast anywhere that your boat can't go so they were DQ'ed. It was an honest mistake. What is it that sounds so "fishy" ???

It may have seemed "fishy" to some because it took almost 2 hours to get an official ruling from the director. From the beginning it was known they threw past the buoys by the dam. At first they were told a DQ for violating a Texas state law (throwing past a buoy). After waiting for another hour and a half, a trip out to view the buoys, and a State Game Warden confirming that throwing past the buoys is Not a violation of any state game law, they still were DQ'd for violating the FLW rule that no fishing is allowed in any area designated "off Limits" "No Boats (the one that gottem)" or "No Fishing." Probably could've got home before 230AM had that rule been shown to them from the start. The everstart guys had this buoy area specifically identified at their pre tourney meeting. The college meeting did not. However, the team understands the final ruling and accepts it. Again it would have been nice to get the correct ruling from the start; I guess the rules are a bit hard to interpret even for guys that have been doing this for a while. Still don't know what the whole Texas Law thing was about.
