Well I havne't used either but the reson I never had a power pole was, I fish in a lot of places where I have to lay down or push the boat under a walk way, or pick cables up and side the boat under. With a power pole there was now way to reach those places. I am in hopes that the talon will be ok looks like you can lay it down flat

It was actually at the TTBC... So yeah, some JA pro angler. Gotta love the internet commandos.

that makes no sense. what about your motor? do the cables just easy go over that? just deploy the pp. they will be lower than the motor before hitting the bottom even if you are in two foot. Not to mention you would have to take the time to brack-off your talon to lay flat.
think about it bro
no offense...

no you can't deploy the power pole because it anchors you, I have to pick the cables up to get it over the motor somtimes they just barely make it or under a shallow walk way noway you can make it with the power pole, it always sticks up above the motor in the up positiong and and if you allow to go down then you are anchored doesn't work.

NO YOU ARE WRONG YOU DONT HAVE TO DEPLOY ALL THE WAY YOU CAN DEPLOY AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE AS YOU WANT. The pp will be lower than the motor before you hit bottom (even in 1-2 foot). YOU ACT LIKE YOU OWN ONE. I DO
again, no offense

My power pole is almost the exact same heighth as my motor, it has never not allowed me to go under something, the only problem I had with mine was the remote screwed up a couple of times so I just went with switches in front and console, if I ever get another boat I will give the Talon a look but for now I am happy with the PP.

You have control to how far down you deploy them. If you have them even or lower with cowling the spikes are not anywhere near the ground anyway. Not sure I follow your thought process here. You can lower them in small increments. its not a all the way down or all the way up thing. i do just that every time i pull out of my garage.

ryanl,

if you're fishing mostly that shallow an 8' pole would be a waste anyway. put a 6' on and that solves it.

Easy choice here......My bilge has spare prop shelf and space is already taken up by prop and the hydraulic jack plate pump/hoses. So Power-Pole and bulky hydraulics could never reasonably fit.......Talon is simpler, needs less room, and only reasonable option.

Yep they are right Ryan. You can lower the pole down below the cowling and the spikes will still be above the bottom of the boat. A powerpole works until you let go of the button. You have to hold the switch or remote button down to anchor and back up. If you let the button go, it stops at that point.
We have them bud, and operate them every day.

I have seen a powerpole ripped up by a prop, at Stowaway Marina on Conroe. One boat in a dock slip backed out and ran into the poles of a boat that was beached on the keel with the poles down. A Trophy plus on a 250 spinning at 1000 RPM's shows no mercy to a little stick of fiberglass.

Pro or not, nobody should be chewing up a power pole with their prop because they got too close to your boat. So yeah...JA not paying attention, "pro" or not. Same as the post above...not paying attention. Glad it wasnt a kid it floated into.
Life is passing you by TXAGG if you think that is OK to do. Commando...haha, I'm not the one holding up a 3#er in my sig.

No one ever said it was acceptable guy! I have seen a dip dong do it as all. Let me re-phrase. Pay attention, people, don't run over our poles.
