I am arranging a charter with the Big E for 80 hour trip in June 24 - 27, 2011.
The total charter rate is $34,500 without meals and tips. So, it is $1,725 per person without tips based on 20 fishermen The trip is pretty expensive, but many fishermen want limited load even it becomes expensive. We plan to go to Green Canyon (about 300 miles run from Freeport, Texas) to unknown territories.
Though this trip is mainly for jigging and popping. But I welcome bait fishermen because it gives more room on the rail for popping fishermen. Bait fishermen will have all the room they want on the boat. Besides, they can bring extra fish home as many fishermen on the boat don't keep any.
I need a few fishermen on the trip due to cancelations.
Also it will be an excellent opportunity to learn jigging and popping as internationally known master jigging and popping Japansese fishermen will join the trip from Japan.

I will be going on the Big E out of Louisanna in March--you don't need to go 300 miles out there and it is $700 a person for 60 hrs./

jedi you are correct green canyon is closer when you leave from grand isle, you will also be fishing with 40 people not the limited load of 20,march trip is 60 hrs june trip is 80hrs ,each trip has it's advantages.march trip you do the driving ,june trip raul & josh do the driving and you get an educational seminar on jigging and popping.both trips are excellent choices!

My group likes to fish with limited fishermen, even they pay more. Some of them spend $2,000 for airfare alone to fish on the Big E. You guys are lucky to live close to Gulf of Mexico.

Hey please treat others with respect on here seems like alot of money but there are benefits too. Several people would pay that just to learn from the Japanese Pro jiggers and Poppers that are going on that trip. With any trip like this I am sure the door prizes and big fish comps will make it worth someones wild. I am too going on the Big E March but always willing to learn and listen to others. This trip would be for the guys looking for an edge/upperhand on fishing.

I drive 5 hours to get bluefin in Cape Cod, drive 10 hours to fish bluefin in NC and drive 16 - 18 hours to fish big bluefin in Prince Edward Island. Fish never follow me and I have to follow fish.

Internet is internet. Whereever you go, there are certain people who ridicule or discredit others for no apparent reason. However, whenever I fish out of LA or Texas, I am very impressed with the behavior and attitude of Gulf Coast fishermen. They are very relaxed, kind and don't hesitate to help other fishermen. It is not my only assessment. Our Northeast guys who fished in Gulf of Mexico said the same thing. Many fishermen in Gulf of Mexico become my friends.

Mr. Song, what are you thoughts on a big Jigging and popping tournament in Venice?

John, I am not a tournament guy because I don't want to compete with other fishermen. However, I saw a jigging and popping tournament is generating lots of interest in Cape Cod and Panama.
