Typically, I do catch channels with shrimp but I have caught a couple blues. I think Keith is right that while shrimp is not their preference, if they are hungry....

Thanks everyone! I definately am going to try the Dead Red. I have bought buffalo from fiesta in plano before too.
@ Lizzardman, I got a 14ft flat bottom with 8 rod holders that I go out on. I haven't been out on it this winter. I have been fishing from the banks where I can start a big fire and stay warm. Next time you think you might be this way gimme a shout. I am always down for new fishing buddies!

I don't think anything is as good as fresh bait, but there's other stuff you can catch good fish on.
