I second this.

I got a bad taste about them about 5 years ago. I was constantly getting subscription notices and felt they weren't accurate about my renewal date. I also didn't like them sending me stuff I did not request and then expecting me to pay for it or send it back.
I did start getting the magazine again when they offered the 3 year subscription for $6 but it doesn't include membership. If I start seeing changes I may join back up when it runs out.

I have had a life membership since I was like 15. It was a christmas present from my parents over 15 years ago... I have three plastic tubs full of the old B.A.S.S's and Bass Times... I agree with the above comments that Jerry and his crew will get it turned back around... Spend the $10 to keep the sport we love growing!!!

Good read for 10.00, about the same price as a Lucky Craft lure!
and you can get the lure hung-up, then what do you have!

I think they should recombine the two and quit bleeding their customers with separate levels of membership. One fee gets it all. IMO ESPN screwed up with the multi-layer memberships. Prior to ESPN you had it all in one magazine and it made it worthwhile. Now they charge $12-$15 for 11 issues of mostly advertisements. About time they provided 12 issues a year too.

I renewed just to support the sport and new owners. Eat chicken instead of steak one night and you paid for it.

Maybe someone that knows how should send the new owners at BASS a copy of this thread. Let them know first hand how members feel and see some of the reasons non members do not want to join.

BASS use to be a top rate organization, but that was years ago and definitely pre ESPN. If I join again, I would like to get all information at one price. It is almost like a scam when you get a lot of solicitation to join at a real low price but then if you want any "good" info, you have to start paying extra for it. Just be straight forward with me in the beginning and let me know what the real cost is.

Maybe I am just overly skeptical, but I have not seen anything new yet. Quite a few people on here have faith that the new owners will turn things around. Maybe they will, I sure hope so, but I have not seen any evidence of it. Have there been any announcements of pending changes that are going to make it a better organization? There could have been and I missed it is why I am asking. I hear a lot of people claiming (or maybe just speculating) that the new owners will take it back to the "grass roots" type organization that it use to be. Will that really be the case?

Give the new owners a chance to show us what they can do. All 3 of them say they are fishermen. Never heard that from ESPN. One of them was in publishing business and said the magazine would be better. Support them and give them a chance to improve things. Change can not happen overnight. It has to be better than ESPN's mismanagement.

I am more than willing to give them a chance. I do disagree with you on a couple of points. 1)Change can and I think in this case absolutely should change overnight. But since they have been the new owners for several months (not sure really how many) that has been time to start making changes and at the very least announce pending changes.

2) Instead of supporting them and waiting for them to get around to making changes, I think they should be anxious to make changes that will improve things and then look for existing and new members to support those improvements. People have put up with the bad from ESPN for a long time. The onus is on the new owners to make improvements that will make it better for existing members and make it desirable for new members.
