Got an offer in the Mail today from BASS to join again. I let my membership and subscription expire several years ago because I was not getting much out of it. To me the magazine had gone way down in quality and if you wanted to get any real info, you had to sign up for different level subscriptions and pay more.

Has anything changed with the new owners? Has anyone seen any improvements? It is only $10. to join for a year so it definitely is not a question of money, just whether it is worth my time or not. I already get a lot of junk mail so I don't want to add to it.............

The magazine alone is worth it, and if you fill out the right form, you might get a tote or small bag or something like that too.

Join and become part of the solution. Jerry is going to make some significant changes this year and most will have to do with membership and benefits. B.A.S.S. needs to lead the industry instead of following. They can only do that with help from their members.

It hasn't been in the past, and I can't speak for the future. Only reason I am a member is becasue its required of me to fish their touranment trails.

Bass Times is more than worth it though, but thats a seperate subscription

I let mine slide a couple of years ago. The magazine turned into more of a tournament recap booklet than an informative publication. I find a lot of better information on gear and techniques, etc. on the web at forums like this.

I still enjoy it and think it's worth it. It's difficult, I think, in this era of technology, for a magazine to present much that's "new" that hasn't already been discussed on a fishing forum or fishing show. But I still get some ideas, especially on tackle and equipment. I know I've sure gone out and spent money as result of reading about it!

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I re-signed up again because it was only $10. Sometimes I read it, and sometimes I just thumb through it.

Seems like most of the folks commenting here have the same reservations I do. I agree with you that members will have to help make changes but it is entirely up to Jerry and company to get the ball rolling. I realize the new ownership has only been in place for a few months but with as much discontent as I have heard from existing members and the perception that BASS is not nearly as good as it was or should be, the new ownership would have made some significant changes immediately. That is the best way I know of to let existing and prospective members know that is not going to be the same as it was in the past.

Guess I will have to consider it a little more to decide if I want to be a member or not.

90 pages, 50 ads....40 articles that are ads as well. Nothing is less appealing to me than to read an article from someone that says "With my Shimano reel and Duckett rod with my seaguar line and my strike king 4s in sexy shad..."
