I want to know if anyone had any luck on Lavon today. Caseguru, were you out there? We were on the water at 7:00 fishing with a bobber, with about a 3 ft leader, DK punch bait, in the bird roosts, and ZIPO! Nada! We did catch a few small blues around noon over by the dam, but non big enough to keep. Sharon

Wasn't it a little windy to be fishing the birds today? Sorry to hear you didn't do real well, but I bet you had a better day fishing then I did working. I'll be at Brockdale in the morning but I'm not fishing the birds. I just got a new motor (new to me) from Arborist and I'm going to set my jugs out and test the motor out. I also build a drift net like Jerry's and I want to try that too. Hope to see ya out there.

Scott, let me know how the motor works. I didn't even try to get out this weekend, just worked on the porch some more. I have a friend coming out on Friday while everyone will be out Christmas shopping hope to get into some more big blues.

Started right up and ran great: until I sheared the pin . It was my fault, now I just got to go find some replacements. Man, what a windy day. Set out my 11 jugs and couldn't even see them for the waves. Caught 2 on just about every jug and had my limit by 10. I ended up catching about 40 and cleaned 20. The ones I kept were 3-6 lbs: all the rest were smaller. I set out three hooks per line, one at 1 ft from the bottom, the next 3 ft (or 2 ft from the bottom hook) and the next 6 ft from the bottom. All fish caught on the bottom two hooks in 13-17 ft of water. Shad was my biggest problem, I was actually cutting them into little pieces and using them. Fish didn't seem to mind .

Sharon I was out there Friday. Tried drifting for a while down from the closed boat ramp with not one hit. I'm going to hit it pretty hard this week. I'm going to try and fish at least 8 hrs a day every day Wed to Saturday night.

Well, we waited until Saturday 11/29 to go out to the birds south of 380 and we only caught 8 before the wind got up. But I managed to land a 12lb-3oz blue and my buddy, Steve (who had never fished the birds before) caught a nice 8lb-1oz channel cat and a 6 lb blue. This was the first channel cat compared to 135+ blues under the birds.

We fished the tip of the Island this afternoon, originally was slabing for Sandies, the fish finder was full, had no luck there and loaded up a hook with some DK, and started catching little blues.
Thanks Rednecktexen for the bait, that should last me a long time. Sharon
