-All fish released..... slowed down to a stand still at noon. Jig and bobber was key. verticle fishing was not good as we would verticle fish the same spot w/o success, then hit it with a bobber and slam them.

Todays report: Dink fest as usual. Landed 4 keepers out of the tons I caught. Pretty fun on the fly rod though....

Then there was a fire out break about 500 yards long and burned for 4 hours or so. It was in the swamp part so the fire dept couldnt get to most of it. Came almost all the way up to Miller rd from the north end of Hubbard.

Wow Carey, I have heard of a creek being "on fire" before, but it usually refers to the fishing! With you and KaLub, it's LITERALLY ON FIRE!! WOW!

I could see the smoke from one of the bridges on 35E as I was headed south out of Denton.....

I knew it wasn't a house because it appeared to be 2 different fires as I crossed Miller Rd. on 635.

I may have to take a road trip next week and try the creeek again!!!

I see people fishing there a lot at night. Never heard of a break in, but that can happen in front of your house. The fish are located from the mouth of the lake to Firewheel Bridge (So, both North and South.) With the flood finally, the slabs should be making their way up as we speak. I saw the first shad school yeasterday of thread fins, so the big crappie should be right behind them. Monday or Tues it will be worth going. Creek needs to clear up a bit and it should be great fishin! Wear kleets if you got them. The clay banks are slick as ice after a rain for about a week.

Report:

Would have limited, but I didnt bring any of my gear w/ me. So i had to fish with the jigs that were tied on my rods. Took all the gear out of the boats cause I thought the creek was going to be at would be unfishable ( it wasnt ) but i always take my rods where every I go. My crappie taco was left at home, so if I had to measure one, it went back in the drink. Only 11 and up hit the bucket.... Monsters are in there now. 15 incher was the biggest and I saw the same size coming out.

Now the bad news for the bankers:

The Lawther Bridge that goes over WRC will be closed Jan 1st. Poor bridge fisherman are going to have to bank it now. They are re-doing the whole bridge there. Hopfully they dont make a temp dam though, that could mess up the sandbass run and crappie spawn if the crappie cant get out to the lake or the sandies can make it up the creek.... But, we will see.

Uh, smoker, there hasn't been a dart train spillway for years. once the tracks were finished and the trains started running, the dam was done away with! How you think we caught them at Skillman all these years! LOL
