Piss poor add-on is what that is. You can see the line of the hip. The only way to fix that right. Is to take the shingles and decking off. Take the old hip and jacks out and run new rafters from ridge to the plate. Then re-deck and new shingles.

I agree. Used to do this about 30 years ago. I was the labor.

Yea, I talked to the roofing guy and he said it looks like the newer roof addition has shifted down alittle. Talked like it could be fixed for around 500 bucks. Just needs to cut and refit the shingles. He said something like the papers 4 feet so if its longer than that than its not a paper issue.
if the bump is at the new roof addon then again RUN, this is an indication that the tie in is not right. with the osb and a bump like that I stand with the water problem too, osb will bubble on one side and you can't see the other one where the damage is. the roofer is full of s--t on the repair too just doing the shingles will not fix it.
my advice is look for another house with the heatpump problem and roof this is gonna cost ya down the road and it won't be cheap.

Well, we are buying this house cheap enough to have all this stuff fixed and it still be a good deal. Theres not alot avaliable right now between 135-160. I havent been looking if the houses we looked at all month where OSB or not, but Im sure the builders around Tyler built all the houses in out price range with OSB. Im not sure we are going to get away from that in our price range.

i think you will find its a roofing problem , not framing

there would be lots of stuff jacked up & showing all over that area of the roof, what does the other side of the roof slope look like

that roofer did not offer you a real repair option either
