Carey, it's no biggie. I guess I assumed when you said you don't ever use sinking lines that you hadn't tried one. Come to think of it, there is a creek around Somerville that has so many stumps that a sinking line would be tough but it was pretty shallow there too so not much need.

I used a Cypert Scissor Tail to catch these out of Inks back in November

I was fishing the lighted docks. It was tuesday before Thanksgiving. Went down with a gentleman from the Ft Hood Chapter of Project Healing Waters. Started Fishing about 5:30 PM and was off the water about 9 PM. Total for the night was 8 White Bass that was dinner the next night, 7 Striper and 1 Hybrid that were all released. Stripers ran between 23-28.5" and the Hybrid was 20". And the White bass were all around 13 or 14"

I came across a passel of sand bass below Ray Roberts dam the other day - http://texasflycaster.com/buy-on-the-rumor-sell-on-the-news/ - after unsuccessfully chasing a rumor of crappie at the confluence of clear creek and the Trinity River. They were munching clousers for sure, but my colors were a little different.

As always, a succinct post that still communicates fully and is aesthetically appealing. What make/size are those circle hooks? .. update, 60 bend jig circle books at that!

That as I recall is a Mustad 39994D. Thanks, but I would trade that post for the one by mbarker68x! And remember, they will be drawing down Inks Lake at the same time as Town Lake --- anybody interested in checking that out around the 10th.? I'm there, as U2 says, "With or Without You," but I can live ...

Here's my version of Cypert's Mylar Minnow.
Should be a sand bass killer tied in white w/flashy mylar ...

Charlie Cypert demo many years ago prompted me to tie his Mylar Minnow -
about the simplest (and best) fly I ever tied.

N.E. Texas 2 acre and 1/4 acre ponds.

I don't always catch fish, but when I do, I prefer Dos Hybrids

You're allowed to use saltwater flies in the Roberts tailwater? (The white bass didn't seem to mind, did they.)

Like the sparse wings on those.

I think it's just this on a 60 degree jig hook (EC413) and a spinner blade. I bet that would be a killer for sandies!
