Anyone go to monti today? There was a boat sinking/stuck on a stump right after the RR bridge. I felt really bad for them guys. Luckly there was a boat close enough to help them out and get all of there gear off. Last I sawl it was still on the stump with the bildge pumping water out of it.

Probably not the nice thing to say, but if they hit a stump THAT HARD, they were going way too fast for that part of the lake. Get in too big a hurry in stump-filled areas and sooner or later you will wind up paying the price!
Glad to hear they got their gear out and weren't hurt.

Wow hate to hear that. Behind th RR bridge? Couldn't imagine going fast enough back there to hit something hard enough to knock a hole in my boat.
**Edit reread and sounds like they were just in front of railroad bridge. Some big stumps there too. Better to wait until the point to run unless you know what you are doing.

You are safe to run directly under the middle of the powerlines only. I see people running off to the side of them every time I go. A friend of mine hit a stump as he was heading out back to the highway bridge as he cut to the right too soon next to the big power line tower. It knocked his lower unit OFF his 225 Merc. I was behind him when he did it. Had to tow the big dummy all the way back to the ramp in the dark.

glad to see they were rescued from thier boat safely.
running in stumps= play with fire long enough, and you eventually get burned.

The stumps on Welsh and Monticello are just like concrete from all the years of cooking in the heated water. I don't think you would have to hit one that hard to puncture your hull.

Luckly there was a boat close enough to help them out and get all of there gear off. Last I sawl it was still on the stump with the bildge pumping water out of it. I remember back in 1987, with my very first boat...it was a 1973 Skeeter Baron...the bottom was soft and we were on the trolling motor. we were fishing just inside of the RR bridge and the boat went up then down. the stump punctured the hull with little effort. it took three other boats to get us off the stump...
