Harvel Fisher passed away on T-bend 3-4 yrs ago. I sure have some good memories fishing with him on Fork. He was a master at fishing t-rigs on drops & in heavy cover. I still fish some of the same spots the same way on Fork.

Here are the current numbers for some of the guides mentioned.

Hollice Joiner - (903)342-5359 home (903)850-5359 cell
Richard McCarty - (903)383-2864
Gene Snider - (903)638-1868

These men deserve a lot more recognition and more mentioning on this forum than they get.

+1 on Hollis Joiner...he was the first guide I ever fished with period. True gentleman...I actually ran into him earlier this past year over at one of the marina restaurants. There was a man who knew how to fish.........

I want to thank everyone in a big way for all the suggestions. Hopefully as this progresses it will be something that Fork loyalists can appreciate. I have a strong reverance for the old guard and I want to make sure that I can give them the respect due. Its gonna be a fun project and something that I think will bring back some old memories and keep you excited for the future.

This is my first post on TFF as I have been lurking for a while but I could not help but read through the list Mark, disappointed at first, then I saw Rick Collis name mentioned as well as Richard McCarty. These two guides were always my choice when I would come down to fish Fork from Memphis in the late 80's and early 90's and I would bring several people with me. I don't know if Dan was kidding or not about Rick but he has my vote any day just as he did 20 yrs ago. Like many others I know Rick knows Fork and where to catch bass.

Mark, James Williams started guiding for CC Oswalt 20 plus years ago and is still going strong. He stays booked more than anyone else I know on the lake and I started fishing there the day it opened. James cell 214 535 2159.
CC Oswalt retired from Fork and is now doing some guiding on Ray Hubbard for sand bass and hybrids and works at Bass Pro in Garland. Also there was Jim Gore who has 4 fish over 13# on Fork, Doug Ray who owned Trophy Lodge, Curtis Rushing built the Minnow Bucket and guided for years passed away a few years ago but his brother Billy still guides for crappie and Jim Purdy is still around.

Gene Snider was the most enjoyable guide I've ever dealt with. We used to use he and Ronnie Byrd on Palestine before Fork opened. Gene is still guiding there Mark--and he has some great stories. Give him a call..You can search him here on the forum. Several comments a while back. Sounds like you're into a fun project.

Randy Carroll was another one of the originals on Lake Fork. Look on the Lake Map in the back of Coffee Creek and he has a creek named after him. Carroll Creek.

Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!
