It's a battery and anchor compartment up front. I was going to put a livewell into the front seat but decided against it because of the weight. I'm pretty much catch and release anyway.
I'll put in on the west side somewhere and fish between Little Mustang and Williams Creek. Once I put in I'm pretty limited because I only have a 5.5 hp motor on it right now. I have a 18 hp in the garage that I'll rebuild over the winter. It scoots pretty good with that on it.
I'll be careful fishing in it. I have found that by myself it is a pretty stable boat as long as I am careful and stay out of the wind. it looks like 7-12 mph tomorrow, so that is not terrible. Maybe I'll try and catch a few crappie to bring back and do a fish fry with.

I dont know if its still possible but we use to laumch at old road bed northeast side of 515 west and go into first cove north which has steep bank that protects from south winds.

This is a good thread. I also have a jonboat, it's a 16ft, 42in wide and decked front and back. I was always curious I it were worth toting 2 hours to fork. It's a sturdy comfortable boat.
Thanks

Well....either y'all ain't got any fish in that there lake or I suck at bass fishin'.
I'm leaning toward no fish in the lake.
I handled the wind just fine, just couldn't find any fish.

Fork serves up more humble pie than any lake I know. It'll have the best anglers in the nation scratching their heads. When she's good she is the best, when she is bad she is colder than a mother in laws love.

Sader- 2 years ago, Lance Vick and I were filming some stuff on Fork in February. We came across a kid in a jon boat back in a cove we were in. Later that day, that same kid came wagging a bass nearly 14 lbs. into LFM for a SAL.
It doesnt matter what boat your in. Go get em!

The Very first time I went to Fork was in a John boat...put in at Little Caney..had a lot of "bigger" boat owners say ...good luck.
Went back in the cove where the bridge is at...the grass was so thick the "other" boats couldn't get in..we used paddles....there were big bass blowin up all around us...right next to the boat...managed to catch a few...but if we had know to drop a jig below the mat, we would have had a banner day.
BTW, the other boats could only watch...

It doesnt matter what boat your in. Go get em! Exactly! If it were me I'd go to the 515 launch at glade, tie up to a standing tree and stitch a jig for a while, then go to another and another, and do that all day.

your'e right.....there are no fish in fork....don't go back, it's just a waste of your time. what ever you do , don't go in the spring That's right, March has to be the worst time of year to go.... To my credit others have said that Sunday was just a [censored] day on Fork. I tried: Texas rigged worms of 4 diferent colors/types Several different types of jigs 2 different level crank baits A swim bait 2 different color spinnerbaits I tried everything I could think of that I had, it just was a slow day. I also didn't see much of on my graph. I at least go to see what the lake looked like and some areas to put in at. I don't think I'll try and navigate it at night though. I'm looking forward to heading back out to Fork during the week in January. All in all, despite not catching anything it was a good day on the water.

I caught my PB on fork out of a john boat. I used to go all over that lake in it on days when the wind wasn't blowing too hard. There is always somewhere on the lake that is out of the wind where you can launch and fish.
