Carey, I appreciate your posts. It amazes me that people go to LMF, but can't catch fish there. The last time I went, on my birthday, the day after Thanksgiving, the park was packed. The fishing was shoulder-to-shoulder in some places.
Fortunately, I have been there enough times to know a couple of places that people JUST don't fish... but they hold LOTS of fish! My buddy and I caught several nice fish with no one around, and left them biting.
We drove back to a place that was packed with people, and one guy walked out of the water looking disgusted. I asked him how he'd done... "Not one fish all day", he said. I just looked at my buddy and grinned.
I'm an old trout bum. I love to catch them. I don't ALWAYS catch them, but it's good just to be where they are.
FISH ON, BROTHER!

Thanks & Welcome... We only saw 4 other angler all day! I love it there during the week when its stupid cold out ( way less people). Multiple times, I have actually been the only car in the park in the winter time. I stayed there for 3 days of fishing solo last winter. I kept going back to camp every so often, to keep the fire going, and never saw another human or car driving by. I never go there on holidays or in the summer time. There are just to many people and the fish are to spooky. Thats why I guide and take time off to go there in the winter. Its as close to the Green River/ Flaming Gorge as I can get, lol.... Today I picked up 6 jars of trout bait in the Evening Hole, an empty box of worms in Lost Creek, and 3 beer cans At the Cold Hole. -Terrible. -and I forgot these pics of Dans other fish from Monday!

Wow. Tarpon huge fish your client caught. Great Job!! Can't wait to get out there with you to catch trout like we catch crappie and sandbass. I really appreciate your post, especially since my ankle is sprain and I can't fish for a while. Its amazing how people who never fished with you or seen you fish automatically shoots down your successful techniques that produce 100's of fish per outting. Please continue to post the reports and ignore the doubters. Plenty of your clients have experienced trips of a lifetime including myself.

I had a wonderful time fishing with Tarpon on Monday at the LMF. I personally caught 27 fish it would've been more if I didn't fall into the water and had to call it a day since I was frozen. It's all about where you fish, the fly, and how you present it and Tarpon had that all taken care of for me so all I had to was land the fish. I could've had a lot more but I ended up missing some hookups early in the morning, oh well that happens when your fly fishing in 20' weather. That monster 21" I caught took about 12 cast to finally land him but it was well worth it. The smallest fish I caught that day was 12", and that was still a lot of fun. If you want to land quality and quantity Tarpon is the man to hire. He has given all of us great information on this thread and other threads as well. Just read and absorb and go fish. Tight Lines everyone, I can't wait for my next trip out.

I believe Carey produces large fish numbers. My question is where are all these fly fishing customers during warm water fishing season? Not on this board fo sho.
Guys, warm water on the fly is mega fun too!!!

Yes, 55 yesterday an average day for me. I was there the day after Thanksgiving and caught about 95 when the park was packed. TarponFly didn't mention the 2 1/2 pound 17 inch rainbow I caught in the EH my iphone battery crapped out on me and Carey was busy upstream with Todd working on that monster they caught. It was good to meet you Todd, had a good time.

Guys, warm water on the fly is mega fun too!!! Rev is right, its a year round fishery up there. Trout fishing in shorts and a T-shirt is great and the colors are neat to see too in the hotter months.

I've never fished this area before. Are there any good books on the area, written from a trout fishing point of view?

I've never been skunked up there; some days I've caught a gang of fish and I've even caught a few big fish in a few places up there, but I sure as heck haven't had a day like that. What a blast you guys must've had.

It was not a "how to vid". It was just an action video.... After my crappie & sandbass "how to" video, I will be doing one for there.... I have never heard of a book for the river though.

I only agree with 2 of RW's flies. The rest suck ( not putting anyone down, hes a great guy, I just dont agree with the flies he posted. WB's are working the best. -And the super secret fly).
Just my opinion.........

Carey, hey man you may not remember but two yrs ago my friend and I had you guide us out on rowlett creek and yes boys the numbers are legit. Anyway I've been fishing lower mountain fork for years and it truly is a great fishery most of the time. I've always used spinning gear but after reading your post I was driven to purchase a TFO 9ft 5wt and will be giving it a shot tomorrow. I bought 30 or so flys while I was at bass pro so hopefully out of those I can find some that work. I've got a couple of Wolly's but is there a color size I should key in on? Thanks in advance.. John
