Fishing the TABC State top 6 this year on Choke. Partner lifts the lid around noon to check the limit. One goes over the side. Get to weighin , grab the net to put over the livewell opening. Partner lifts the lid before i can get to the back of the boat another goes over the side. Damn skeeter livewells. They just keep them in too good shape.

Left a tournament early b/c we got soaked and chilled to the bone. Luckily had dry clothes in the truck so i went in the restroom to change. Came out to find that my partner had locked my keys in the truck, yup it was still pouring rain. So we got soaked again. Luckily it was running b/c we were able to hit the window button with the antenna.
PS water resistant and waterproof have two VERY different meanings

Heading out to Cedar Creek early in mourning heading to fish tournament. Was on a curvy road when I hit a center block right in the middle of the road. Fortunitely, missed it with the truck but nailed it with my trailor tire. Crushed the tire and rim. Changed it out in less than 5 minutes and off and running!

Put my skeeter in the water for a media tournament and heard something fall in the water, then i lost steering. One of the steering linkage bolts fell out so i couldnt steer it to tie it up. I started tearing my truck apart looking for a bolt. Found one that fit it out of my drivers side f250 seat and threw it in there. It was kinda scary making that 45 minute run across the lake with a rigged steering bolt.

Day 2 of the CABA Chapionship this year. Made a decesion to make a run to fish a drop off close to the ramp. When i was comming off pad, the engine dies and wouldn't restart. Just stumbled a few times. Figuring i burned out the fuel pump, we fished that crappy area around the ramp for 3-hours. Just before I said screw this, lets go home a little light went off in my head. "What if the wire on the fuel pump came loose?" It has never happened but what if. I took the cowling off and the dang wire was off. Put it back on fired right up. Still didn't catch anymore fish.

In a TTU club tournament in early March at Hubbard Creek a few years back, my partner and I were in a borrowed boat. I backed him into the water, parked the truck, walked back down to the ramp and stood in confusement as he was doing circles out in front of the ramp, in reverse. The throttle/shift cable snapped from the cold as he was backing it off the trailer. After about 30 minutes we figured out how to use some pliers to get it into "forward" and keep it there so we were off to our spot.

As we're heading across the lake, on a fairly rough day, I keep hearing what sounds like the engine was randomly over-revving but the tach was showing steady RPM. After a couple minutes of this, I look back at the engine, and the cowling has come loose and is trying to fly off. We stop; the front cowling latch is broken. We find the only adhesive in the boat, a little band-aid, slap it on there and we're off again, for a second... until we hear the engine high-rev as we fall off plane and realize our ghetto-engineered transmission job fell into neutral. We remove the band-aid, remove the cowling, fix it back into forward, replace the cowling and band-aid and carry on.

Later, just before weigh-in, we're about to leave our last spot and realize there is water shooting up from the floor drain... at this point, we’re not surprised. A live-well hose had come loose and we're now sinking. As I'm driving out from the spot, my partner plugs the hole with something, we blast off aaaand big surprise, the engine falls back into neutral. Rinse and repeat. Grr...

In my first tournament ever, my trolling motor quit at 9am so I took it to a place near the lake and they couldn't help me so I went home.

My second tournament ever (now with a spare trolling motor in the truck) my trolling motor bracket broke so the spare trolling motor wasn't much help.

My third tournament ever, my partner bailed so I went solo. I checked in, got back on the highway to trailer and then one of the wheels on my single axle trailer passed me on the highway. It was like the 4th of July behind my truck while it was grinding on the U-bolts. The tow truck had a good time with that one..

After that happening on my first three tournaments I figured I wasn't cut out for tournament fishing, but I stuck with it and had a little under 27lbs for 2nd place in the first tournament I was able to actually able to fish.

I've been hooked since! hooked

My first tournament on Conroe I was heading down to the south end of the lake to fish a spot that I always catch fish on. Half way there I ran out of gas...gauge said half a tank. Had to get on the trolling motor and troll for about a mile to the closest marina that had gas. Last tournament I fished (also on Conroe) was heading south to that same spot. Throttle cannel broke an I wasn't able to go above 1k rpms. Idled back to stow a way and fished that area the rest ofthe tournament. Ended up winning. I hope this tournament season goes better than last! Don't think I'll be hittin that spot down south this year. I think its bad luck.

On the way to a club tournament on Welsh. Saw sparks coming form the rear of the trailer. Yep, it was a wheel bearing. Drove to the lake any way and jacked up the trailer and took off the wheel. Drove to Mt. Pleasant, but couldn't find a bearing or hub. Had to drive all the way back to Garland to Northern Tool. Found a hub and bearings, drove back to the lake fixed wheel hub and bearing. Put boat in and fished for 1.5 hrs. Of course didn't catch any fish.

Fished another club tournament on Lake Winnsboro. Drove to our spot. Nothing happening, so we decide to move. Crank up the big motor, go about 20 yards and it shuts off. Start again , go about 20 yards and it shuts off. Decide to go to ramp (idling) and try to figure out the problem. Couldn't figure out the problem. Load up boat and the next day, take it in and find out the VRO pump had gone out.

I am sleeping in the backseat of my SUV at the ramp at the State park at Bob Sandlin the night before a tournie. I had put all my rods in the truck with me so they would not walk off in the night. It got a little stuffy in the truck that night and woke me up so cracked a couple of my power windows open and went back to sleep.Alarm goes off I get up ready to go.Without noticing that when I cracked the windows my rod tips had slid just out of the window I hit the buttom to close the windows and heard a terrible sound...YEP

Had a big stringer at a tourny on Hubbard Creek couple of years ago. Fished in the same spot from 7am to 3pm never started the big motor. Went to leave of course the big engine was dead. Swotched a battery from TM side to engine side got it started. Made weigh in last in line...Won the tourny.
My batteries should go dead more often.

Retirement best job ever.

3 weeks ago we were trying to get to the launch ramp first so we could be the first ones to take off....come to find out we could pay early entry online and we ended up being 10th to take off...trying to get to a hole first before anyone....when they call our name to take off the boat wouldn't start....dead cranking battery....used trolling motor battery to crank the big motor but couldn't figure out what wire went where....finally figured it out and headed to our spot an hour later....get to our spot and no one was there thank god....

Went to switch batteries again and troller wouldn't go...finally figured that out....started trolling to our spot and bottomed out on a sand bar....had to get out of boat and push it in freezing water....no extra clothes!! When we were leaving the cord on the trolling motor snapped.....couldn't pull the bar from inside the boat so we had to jump in the water again to pull the bar....we go to take off and motor wouldn't trip down...finally got it trimmed down...short in the wires....we take off and ended up in 4 foot swells and motor wouldn't trim up.....always something lol

Every stinking day on the lake is a new adventure for myself and my battle wagon! I would bore you folks to death with the numerous repairs "on the fly" that I have to perform. I keep a tool kit with lots of electrical connections and large gauge wires, and duct tape! You have to learn how to repair your equipment if you are going to fish a lot in an old tub!
