For all you guys saying, well you gotta execute on Gameday.
Let's have a little scenario/challenge.
We are fishing Lake Waco in 2 weeks. Neither of us have ever been on the lake. The rules say that we are not allowed to use the phone or talk directly to anyone prior to the tournament. However, we are allowed to use the Internet forums. You do not have an internet connection and have no availability to get one. However, 'I' have an internet connection and can talk freely to all TFF'rs. We both get to practice on Saturday and fish on Sunday. We'll see who 'executes' a better game plan.....
Change your perspective a bit on information?

Thank you Kevin Short - excellent comments and I wish everyone played the game like you do. Good luck in the coming year!

What's with Short? He freely admits he gets info himself, them jumps on someone else who also gets it.
The only way he could complain about said info is if he never, and I mean NEVER, did it himself.
Admiting to doing it and then complaining about someone else, just makes him a whiner.

would you give the following advice to your kids when they have a big science project to do in High School, or you would make them gut it out and learn what it takes to succeed on their own.
"It's ok go ahead and call up all of your friends at school and ask for advice and instruction to do your homework/project"
Then when they get a good grade, act like they actually accomplished something. The only thing they learned was that it's ok to take shortcuts in life. You are comparing apples to oranges. If someone gets info after the cutoff or off limits period they are cheating. If they do it beforehand ut us not against the rules , thus it is fair game. If little sally's teacher says you can use a calculator to do every bit of her math homework except for the last 30 days of school then she is only cheating if she is using it during those last 30 days. I have bought crankbaits from Mr. Short and he seems like a nice guy but there is no doubt he whines, I think most of that is just to get his name out there. Anyone controversial will always get more recognition.....

Gathering/sharing info goes on at the local level just as much as it does on the pro stage. It's nothing new. IMO, the whining that Kpink did nothing but reflect poorly upon himself. I also found my respect for Duckett slip a notch with his begging.. Guess I'm getting old, seems like the "new" breed of "pros" are whiners and (to me) poor stewards for sportsmanship.

All that info didn't really help Duckett this year.
Bass fishing is like a 30,000 acre golf course with no flags and five holes you can't see- Tim

Guess I'm getting old, seems like the "new" breed of "pros" are whiners and (to me) poor stewards for sportsmanship. EXACTLY!!!!!! Growing up I never heard Clunn, Nixon, Brauer, Biffle or any of the other old school guys whine about any thing or take little pot shots at the other pros. They went out there and caught fish and let the scales speak for themselves. Now it seems like every time you turn around there is some sort of drama going on in tournament fishing and the talk usually aint about what the weights were........ unless it was a 16oz lead weight!

I think KPink is just looking for a little publicity. He knows darn well how the game is played.
Has anyone ever watched KVD prefish? Do you actually think he comes up with 40-60 waypoints a day to check out of his head?
You can just get out and fish and ocasionally come up with the winning fish, but you are not going to do it consistently. If you use it the right way info will help not hinder.

This has been going on since the beginning of competitive bass fishing. You didn't hear as much about it when Nixon, Clunn, and Brauer were on top because Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet!

I think it has gotten a lot more sophisticated than before. I know I have read articles where GPS chips are passed around now and that companies hire locals for their knowledge for lakes that their sponsored pros are fishing. I guess it is no different than getting a marked up map of a lake. The only true way to test an anglers skill I guess is to annouce the lakes from event to event.
On the other hand, I have been impressed at times when watching "A Day on the Lake" how well some pros do at figuring out te pattern and zeroing in on the fish.

Back in the early days GPS was not around. So how effective was info sharing back then?
Can you imagine giving someone 40 spots to fish...all of them must be found by lining up with objects on land. It would take a spiral notebook to get all that info.
Now all that info(waypoints) is available with a little card that measures 1" x 1"....you can get within 3' of the exact spot now days.
Man, the good ol days must have been great!
Times have changed. The world just moves so fast...and changes so much. What will be next?
You can avoid having ulcers by adapting to the situation: If you fall in the mud puddle, check your pockets for fish. ~Unknown
Open your eyes & look within, are you satisfied with the life youre living.
No matter how good or bad you have it, wake up each day thankful for your life. Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs.
