I fished several tournaments against K-Pint prior to him going to the big show. His reputation then was that he got more pre-tournament help than anyone. He wore more sponsor patches than anyone and he was considered a large fish in a small pond. I think now that he's an average fish in a bigger pond, he's a little jealous that larger fish, e.g, KVD and others get more help. violin

He is one of the few Elite pro that has won an Elite event and one of only a couple that have won more than one. Not sure I'd call that average.

You have to look at the numbers being a bit skewed on the averages has KVD has won a few Classics which pay more aand Duckett has won one too plus he has fished less events overall so it goes without saying his numbers are bigger and that is not a shot at Duckett as I am a fan of his. We'll just agree to disagree. I am not saying Short was right in what he did or that I am even a Short fan. I am saying he has won 2 more Elite events than myself or anyone criticizing him here. In no way is Short close to KVD in talent. About the only guy that is close to that level is Reese.

In what sport do competitors not get information on the opponents.

In football, baseball, you scout other teams. Scouts trade information, etc. No different in fishing, which I do consider a sport. You are fishing against the fish, not the other fisherman. ( think of it like Golf, you are playing the course, nothing the other golfer does beats you except playing the course better )

When I am in a tourney, I dont care what the other guys do, I know what I can do, what I am good at, and will tailor that the best I can for what I know on a particular lake.

Now, how did I learn about the lake? Time on the water; Maybe I have taken guide trips in the past; Maybe I have called my buddies and asked for info; Looked at maps, Looked at Google, Read the TFF.

As long as I dont break any rules for the Tourney, why should anyone care how I scout the lake and my opponent. I dont see it as a moral dilemma or unethical in any way. I share information on lakes, but the people I give info to, as well as what I get still has to be executed on. Nothing I have done affects the fish or the fisherman, I am not out sore lipping bed fish cause I have a late draw ( Also not illegal, but not ethical or sporting IMHO)

Sometimes all the preparation in the world does not help.

I have heard the exact same things from numerous people in Central Arkansas as well.

KVD Says, Only worry about the things you can control and put everything you cant control out of your head.

If he worried more about his own game and stopped worrying what everyone else was doing he might win more.

Admiting to doing it and then complaining about someone else, just makes him a whiner.

You hit the nail on the head. He's blasting guys for getting help. He's blasting Boyd for lumping all the Elites into one group using "WE". Then saying he doesn't use outside help and in the next breath, owning up to using it in the past but didn't have any success with it. I'm guessing if he had been successful with the outside info he'd still be using it. It's like Clinton saying he smoked pot but didnt inhale. loco

I heard Kevin say that before he went to Pickwick, he talked to the owner of Jewel and he told him to treat it like fishing a river. He did and I think it worked out for him with a win.

Well, it pretty much is a river......And, with as lucky of a win he had there, he shouldn't ever whine about anything again...Not everyday 4 and 6 lbers, just eat your HUNG up crankbait off the base of a cypress tree.

Who cares - in reality there are a lot better fisherman who can't afford the circuit - head to head is the real deal - like match racing - again why get caught up in something that you are not affected by - that is a rule of life also

My favorite tournament of the year is the one in which we all show up at a designated location at 5:00 a.m., draw the name of a lake from a hat, and go fishing.

I think the best concept for the Classic was what they did the first year. No one knew where they were fishing. Ray Scott had all the qualifiers loaded on a plane and flew them to Lake Mead.

Although in this day and age I'm sure if that happened a bunch of the guys would be on their cell phones calling Lake Mead guides as soon as they realized the plane was descending over northern Arizona...

In a perfect world I would like to see every tournament fisherman live and die only on what he learns for himself...and his ability to catch fish.

I know "they still have to catch them"...but I also think most of us know exactly what to do when we get to a known honey hole, throw out a lure, and feel a THUMP!
