if Pinkie went out without prefishing and utilized "info", then he got what he deserved. Info is just a prefishing tool to help you find your own plan of attack. Pinkie's ratings must be down, to pull this kind of article out of the hat.

Why worry about what everyone else is doing? That's something you can't control. Just go about your business instead of calling people out.

would you give the following advice to your kids when they have a big science project to do in High School, or you would make them gut it out and learn what it takes to succeed on their own.

"It's ok go ahead and call up all of your friends at school and ask for advice and instruction to do your homework/project"

Then when they get a good grade, act like they actually accomplished something. The only thing they learned was that it's ok to take shortcuts in life.

I think its all funny. I know of one pro on here who stayed with a local to get info on river for classic. To each is own. Can't help what others do.

I think the man has to have something to bitch about. He was one of the elites that started the whole thing of no co-anglers. If I would have been in the boat with him on Falcon and he treated me like he did a friend of mine, one of us would have got a [censored] whooping!!!
That stuff has been going on as long as there has been tournaments.Rowland Martin was the best and KVD is almost as good as gathering info as there ever was.

People that are going to use other sources to help them win will argue this is garbage. On the other hand people that don't have any edge on the competition will argue that this is in fact a problem.

In the end, if someone is willing to give you some information, you are going to listen. Don't care who you are, you will listen. So either get to know some people or get better at fishing.

In just about every competitive sport there is, a team/individual will do everything within the rules to gain a competitive edge on their opponent(s). In football, you watch game film of the other team. In baseball, you study tendencies of the opposing pitcher. In golf, you play a practice round and mark yardages. I could go on and on.

IMO, info gathering is just part of bass fishing. Some may have better pipelines to gather info than others, but it's something that each angler can do if they wish.

But as is the case in EVERY sport...the game is decided on the water. Not off the water. You have to execute during crunch time...plain and simple.

Seems like tournament fishermen whine more than NASCAR drivers now days!

I would be willing to bet EVERY tournament fisherman has used second hand info in a tournament at some point. I dont care if the info came from the newspaper, the internet, a guide, or where ever......we have all used second hand info at some point.

I think he was talking more about his blog . Especially the September 9, 2010
A behind-the-scenes Classic story
and the September 16, 2010
Story leads to offers of help
entries. He basically uses a national fishing site to beg for info.

But as far as getting live, really important local help, well, it looks like I'm too late. I've talked with all kinds of guides and local anglers, but everybody's committed to another angler. If I've heard it once, I've heard it a dozen times: "Hey, I'd seriously love to help you, but I'm already helping ..."

I'm a late shopper, and everything's been bought. (By the way, that's just a figure of speech.) But, seriously, I did again this year what I seem to do at the end of every season, which is get so wrapped up in work that I have to scramble to catch up in my fishing career. And this year it's killing me. The Classic field sucked up all the guides. I feel like everybody in the field this year has help except me.

So if anybody out there feels like he knows the water really well, don't hesitate to get in touch. (www.boydduckett.com)

Then this post.....

Last week I wrote a blog that I intended to be nothing more than informational. (YEAH RIGHT!!!!!) I wanted to share what it's like to be in the competitive world of pro fishing. I put information out there that I thought would help people see what we, as anglers in the Bassmaster Classic and on the Elite Series trail, go through to try and win tournaments of that magnitude.

E-mails started coming in within hours after last week's blog was posted on Bassmaster.com. First, there were a couple, then it almost seemed like they were pouring in. I've gotten no less than eight to 10 a day. I got them through my Web site address and through Duckett Fishing's e-mail address. I've even gotten a couple through my e-mail address at Southern Tank Leasing, the tank trailer business I own.

Every message — I mean every last one — is nice and helpful. They've come from Texas and Arkansas and all over the Southeast. The messages are all unique, but the sentiments are the same. The people writing either have offered to help or have served up a name of someone that knows the Mississippi River and the delta waters well enough to give me some guidance.

Is it right for an angler to get help? I think so. How many times have you asked someone where did you catch them, what off of, etc? To be able to use a national stage like Bassmaster to do it when others don't have that ability to do so, I don't think that is fair at the least. Bassmaster ought to be ashamed they let him do it. I would cry foul if I was an Elite Series angler. That is just my 2 cents, which is just about what its worth! smile
