A 13 inch bass did this to my finger this weekend! Not fun, but all good now!

Now that has to hurt. Somehow that hook looks huge. But....I know the feeling.

Were you able to cut the hook?

Just before it happened I commented to my Dad that the hooks were huge on that thing. It is an RC 2.5. Hooks are big..... and thick!

I tried to pull it out with a leatherman, but it would not budge. Rather than let my Dad tie a string to it and start yanking, I was a weenie and went to the clinic and had them shoot it up. Then they didn't have anything that could cut the hook. They started discussing cutting it out and stitching it back together. They ended up going to Target and getting a leatherman which did the trick.

So question, did you not just cut the barb end off and pull it through or did the hospital do that? I'm assuming they did but you didn't mention that..if not then what on earth were they thinking!!!

It was in the middle of my finger when I was tugging on it with the leatherman in the boat. I could not get it out, so I went to the clinic, they pushed it through, cut the barb, and pulled it back out. Pushing it through never even occured to me on the water because it was so deep in the middle of my finger. I actually thought the nurse was crazy when she told me that is what she was going to do. But, it was definitely the right way to get it out becuase my finger feels like it never even happened now (less than 24 hours later).
