Have been turned on to the newest and well only legal distiller of 100% bourbon here in Texas. According to their website. A great way to enhance your tying and support a Texas born and bred venture. Distilled and sold small batch only. each bottle is numbered and if you swing by the distillery Mr. Garrison will sign the bottles himself.

I give you Garrison Brothers Whiskey

Only drawback is it's only sold in Blanco and Gillespie counties.

Slainte,

Grey

How does it compare to good old Jack Daniels?

Bourbon and whiskey taste pretty close to me. Since JD is the drink I used to drink, I wanted to know how it compared to it. If it is stronger tasting than JD, I would not want to try it. JD is more than strong enough for me now, since I rarely drink anymore.

Bourbon versus Tennessee whiskey . . . but how about some whisky instead?

If you are Scotch or Canadian you would like whisky. Here in the good old USA whiskey works for me...lol.

Canadian whiskey is good for mixed drinks. Macallen is good, Glenlivet is my favorite. Im a fan of the ridgemont reserve as far as bourbon goes.

I never knew tying went so well with whiskey. I might have to get into this....

My preferential favorite is 100% rye whiskey. Not too many around but definitely my favorite! This is a 2 year bourbon. Kelkay it's sips quite smooth though I am a cut with water kinda guy. I'll sniff it again tonight and post a wine-esque tasting note for you guys. It isn't cheap at $75 a bottle. But I'm doing my best to support Texas producers of everything. Wine, beer, whiskey, goat cheese. Anyway it's quite good bourbon and I'll keep a drinking it.

Grey, how big of a bottle? No way I can afford 75$...wow. Alcohol has gone up a lot, but I haven't been buying more than a pint at a time, of whiskey.

It's a 750 ml bottle. So it is pricey. But being a small batch startup that's not subsidized by a big company the money has to come from somewhere. It's a trend. Like a new beer brewery out of Houston who shall remain nameless, but I tried their beers and they are good, but two of the 3 varieties they have are sold in 4 packs at $10. Now that is steep. I even emailed them about it. Said they don't set the price point. I disagree but whatever.

BB I like Makers but it's a bit sweet for my tastes.

Here's my current favorite:

I have had the Russel's Reserve, found it a tad bit rough. Will have to try the rye version though.
